Whoa! Kyle schwarber just carried the Cubs to victory. Rookie catcher with just a handful of games in the majors is already making an impact. Yes, it’s very soon, but the early returns are very good.
Another Cubs phenom? First it was Castro, then Rizzo, then Bryant, then Russell, and now Schwarber? Yeah, and those are all the same guys on the mound with the pitcher and pitching coach during a conference. Not too shabby. This Cubs plan, the one that frustrated for the last 3 years, the one that some doubted…it’s not looking too bad right now. It’s like that Cubs commercial… Plant the seeds, and watch them grow.
Tuesday night was a growth spurt if you may for our catcher. With dozens of family and friends in attendance, he stepped up in the ninth with the Cubs down two. No, it wasn’t Chapman who needed a break, it was Hoover who he faced. With Fowler on base with a lead off single, and after taking a few and fouling a few off, he launched one. I don’t say that lightly. He launched one. He may have looked at it for a second, but man was it a beaut. Tie game! This is how it stood until the 13th, when King Kyle stepped up again. This time, he destroyed a ball shin high, and lined it into the stands. This kid can flat out rake. This kid is a stud.

This kid was just drafted last year. Usually, it takes these baseball picks a number of years before reaching the majors. We’ve already seen one guy on the south side from that same year..the pick right before Schwarber, make his debut. He was actually on the mound on this night too…getting hammered by my least favorite team. Rodon may be a good pitcher soon; he’s definitely going through some stuff, like every young player will. But this young player for the Cubs is riding high right now. I always thought the Cubs would have taken Rodon had the Sox not, thinking the Sox got a really good pick. Now, I’m happy they took him. I wonder if Sox fans wish they would have taken Schwarber instead of continuing to live the Tyler Flowers nightmare.
Hey, anything can happen as we all know from here on out. But for one night, this kid was king. I have a feeling he’s only getting started. It’s funny how he’s in the spotlight right now. Multiple Cubs have been over the past couple years, and that’s a good thing. This team is looking better and better each day.
This will all hopefully lead up to that day eventually. For now, I’m just going to enjoy the ride. It’s damn fun right now watching this team. With a number of exciting victories and close wins, it has been a while since it has been this fun. To see these young guys growing up in front of our eyes, to see the team get better with the sky the limit, is very exciting. Tuesday night was very exciting. Thanks Kyle and Go Cubs!

Its nice to see different players step up, but King he is not. Sorry fellow Cub fans. We have all seen out fair share of future stars, rookie sensations, and my personal favorite; five tool players. For example, Corey Patterson, Felix Pie, Geo Soto, even Kerry Wood, and Mark Prior. I would much rather see Schwarber in a CUBS uniform for the next ten years. As most of you know being a catcher is one of the most grueling positions to play. By default a players knees have issues within 3-4 years of the start of their career. As well as handling the different personalities of the different pitchers. Best thing we can do right now is say, good game kid and keep it up!
Go CUBS!

Mr. Schwarber looks damn good so far. He mat struggle at times, like bryant is right now, but he has what it takes to make it, without a doubt. Both can flat out swing the bats. He will struggle and strikeout at times, but I like what I am seeing, the Cubs catcher of the future. When was the last time we had that? Jody Davis, Damon Berryhill? Keep rakin Schwarber…the Cubs will need it now and in the future! GO CUBS GO!!!
