It’s been a while since I’ve talked Fantasy Baseball, so bear with me. This week ended with wins in each of my leagues; I love 2-0 weeks. Where did those wins leave us? Let’s find out in the fantasy check in.
Let’s start with the money league. I’m in 4th place. Looking at the teams behind me, feel pretty confident that I will finish in the top 6 and make the playoffs; this is the minimum expectation for my team every single year. Of course, I’m shooting to win it all, but first thing’s first. First place in the regular season means money; my brother is having a huge year this year, and sits 3 games ahead of me… that’ll be tough. Most points in the regular season also means money; I’m only 80 points off the top point total. There is definitely more promise to get that early pay day. There are still 9 weeks left in the regular season, so… a lot can happen. Injuries can really screw you, and of course you can run into that 1 team that has a better week than you do, and beats you in your matchup; it happens a lot. Two of the original teams in the league are on the outside looking in right now for the playoffs, while the other 2 teams are battling to stay out of the basement. The one team has given up I believe, while the other team, the newbie, has been more than respectable for his inaugural season; maybe there will still be movement in the standings yet…
In the family league, I’m back where I belong… at the top of course. I knocked off my brother in law to take first place back. Crazy thing is, I’m 5th out of 8 in total points; guess I’ve been getting lucky with my matchups? I’ll take it. On the opposite side of luck is my dad; he’s 3-10, but is only 100 or so points behind me… crazy right? I’ve been there, believe me. I’ve had the most points in the league and have missed the playoffs; talk about pissed off.
This week I’m facing my nemesis in one league, and my nephew in the other. My nemesis, guy that I’ve worked with for almost 30 years, who actually just retired, always seems to beat me; his biggest win was over me in the fantasy football championship one year… when Tony Romo got hurt in the first series for me… I may have bitched about this once or twice before… anyways, can’t figure out why he has my number. My nephew that I’m facing is the leading point scorer in the league. I guess if you have both MVPs on your team, Acuna and Ohtani, you would be in the same place… sick.
It’s fun, always is. My wife woke up the other night in bed; she saw me on my phone, and asked me what I was doing. Don’t worry, it’s not what you think… I’m just researching fantasy baseball at midnight… haha. Good luck!
