It was some years back, that we headed down to Bourbonnais, or Bearbonnais if you may. It was a lot of fun. Watching the Bears practice, getting ready for the season. It was the sign that football was right around the corner. We couldn’t wait.
Today marked the start of the 2018 training camp, and I am just as excited. I’ve been talking about this, with my wife. About the anticipation for this season… the excitement… Looking forward to reserving each and every Sunday to watch the games… thinking big things… like playoffs big. It’s been too long.
I can’t believe these sports guys that I follow on Twitter are watching this series about Jay Cutler’s wife… and of course Jay. I was dreading having to hear him broadcast games; thankful that he played with the Dolphins, so we could be spared this crap. But now all these guys are loving him on this TV show, another piece of crap reality show. I don’t get it. I can’t stand that dude. I was so happy he was gone. I don’t want to have anything to do with that guy ever again. No way I’m watching this series… I haven’t.
Yes, he was the QB the last time the Bears were in the playoffs. It was so long ago. After that year, his career ran parallel with the Bears failures year after year after year. OK, forget about that joker. I was talking about how excited I am for the upcoming season…

It’s Mitch time, and he’s got weapons too. The 1-2 punch in the backfield, the new WR/TE additions, the returning OL, the new OC, the new HC… need I go on? OK, the returning D, the DC genius… heck yes it’s going to be a good year. Or, is it expecting too much too soon? Is there going to be time needed before all this comes together, just like Nagy and Pace warn us? No, no…
THIS is the year the Bears will be back. My wife picked up that Trubisky jersey for my son I had been meaning to get. He’ll be rotating that with his Payton jersey during the games this year; we’ll watch each one… or as much as he can watch before he goes to bed on those primetime games. I’ve never taken him to a Bears game…
I thought this would be the year… the preseason games aren’t really lining up good. It will have to be a regular season game. It won’t be cheap. Maybe for Christmas, although I’m sure he’d be more interested in another Lego set. I wanted him to really remember his first Bears game; he’s definitely old enough for that now. It would even be cool to head down to camp… And then of course going on the road to see them. We’ll have to do that too.
Year 1 of the Nagy era will begin soon; hoping this era is one to remember. Nagy-Trubisky… those two names will hopefully go down in Bears history. Yeah, I need to pump the brakes, I know…. but I can’t help it. The Bears are back. Bear Down!

Never been to Bears training camp. I think it would be a blast, though. Maybe a trip for all of us to take one of these years. It is definitely MTru time! He has better weapons than last year plus a new head coach calling the plays and making things interesting, hopefully. Enough of this vanilla, conservative offense. Unleash and use the weapons we have…be creative! Would love to see a Howard and Cohen backfield at the same time…trouble for the D without a doubt. I am excited for this Bears season, too. I think it could be a great one. Lost some close games last year even with the toughest schedule in the league. This year should not be as hard, and I am ready to eat some cheese week 1! I know the Bears are chomping at the bit already. We get our first glimpse later this week for their preseason opener…can’t wait! BEAR DOWN!!!
