Finally made it… the 8 division tour ends back at home here in the NFC North. Let me start off by saying, I don’t think the Lions were a fluke; I do think they will win the division. Now, from there, I think the Bears will be in the mix for a wild card spot; hoping we finally got it right. Speaking about flukes… how about Jordan Love and the Packers, or is everybody all in on them being good? I’m not… big surprise. The Vikes… JJ McCarthy backing up Sam Darnold… whew; I really hope the Bears got it right. Here we go.
The Lions coach is a bit of a kook, but most of the time, he’s a good kook; when it came to decision making in the biggest game of the year, well, that’s another story. I love being aggressive, but there’s a time and a place; every situation is different… act accordingly… or not, I don’t care. I do think the Lions have a shot to get right back to the NFC Championship game; have they surpassed the Niners? Don’t know about that, but who says the Niners will be back there? Counting on one hand the NFC teams that have a shot to win the Super Bowl, the Lions are included… bottom line.
The Packers scared me last year. In a rebuilding year, the Packers made a heck of a run, almost taking out the Niners in the playoffs; that was all cake for them. Now, the bar has been raised, and expectations are running high. Did Green Bay do it again with Jordan Love? Pump the brakes crazy. Of course I hope with every ounce of my soul that he’s not, but I don’t have to go that deep yet; let’s see him backup his first half season of good play. Let’s just say, I’m not worried about him or the Packers yet. You see in Chicago, we have our own young QB and team to be excited about.
Yes, DA Bears… how many times do we get excited? How many times do we fall crashing down to earth? Well, I’ve lost count, but I still haven’t learned my lesson. Caleb Williams, let’s go! The offense around him… solid. The defense… very good last year. Is there a legit reason to be excited? Yes, yes there is. How will it all shake out in the end? Didn’t I do a game by game preview of the season? I think I called for 10 wins? I’m too lazy to go check, but yeah, being in the mix for the wild card would not be a total surprise; being under 500… would be a disappointment.
That brings us to the land of 10,000 lakes. The Vikings will suck; agreed? They do have Justin Jefferson, so… there’s always a chance. OK…
OK, now that we’ve circled the divisions, let’s predict the playoffs, and close the book on the season preview. This has been fun.
