Can you believe the AL had won 9 in a row against the NL in the MLB All Star Game? That’s kind of crazy. It wasn’t always the case; the NL dominated plenty of times. But over the past decade… it’s been all AL, until Tuesday night in Seattle. Nine and done.
I had to get some action on the game; I came slightly ahead in the HR derby action, and ended up the same for the game. I bet on over 0.5 runs in the 1st inning; felt pretty good about it. As the game began, all the announcers kept talking about was the shadows, and how hard it was going to be to hit the ball in the first couple innings; great news for me. Yet, when Acuna swung that bat, I thought the ball was getting out; nope, Adolis Garcia caught it up against the wall. When Freeman swung that bat next, I thought the ball was getting out; nope, Randy Arozarena caught it up against the wall. Two straight hits to the wall… I kind of knew I was done there, and I was.
I kept watching the game though. I liked the over in the game, which would have lost, as well as, the NL; I waited until they trailed to place a bet on them. After Elias Diaz hit the home run to give the NL the lead in the 8th inning, I felt hopeful; of course the bottom of the 9th wouldn’t go smoothly. When Julio stepped to the plate as the winning run, I worried. When he walked and Jose Ramirez stepped to the plate, I was worried. Kimbrel got him though; the AL reign of terror is over.
Historically I’ve rooted for the NL; I guess you root for the league your team plays in. Since I am a Cubs fan, I root for the National League; I wonder if everyone else plays it that way…. I know some Sox fans that do, and I was sure to text him once the result was official. He chuckled, then threw a shot at Luis Robert, which I agreed with, especially since I bet on him in the HR derby; jerk.
Justin Steele represented well, while Luis Robert sat out. I saw something that said Bryan LaHair was the Cubs All Star the last time the NL won the game; wowza… Hopefully, it won’t be so long for the next NL win. Maybe the Cubs can get some more guys in the game too. Now, back to the regular season…
