Anybody else think the all star uniforms this year are absolutely atrocious? Although they were the colors of my grammar school uniform, they are also the colors of the 84 Padres. Anybody else still wondering why I hate them? And I liked my grammar school…
I hate to see the Cubs wear them. Yeah it is awesome that they’re there… don’t get me wrong. I’m proud seeing all those Cubs in San Diego for the All Star game, I just wish they weren’t wearing those ugly things. It brings back bad memories. It reminds me of the first time I hated. But there are other San Diego memories.
Living in LA for a number of years, I drove down there a handful of times. A couple times it was on my way to Tijuana; lots of good memories there. I saw the Bears play their season opener in San Diego the one year; bad memories there too, when Tommie Harris and Mike Brown both got hurt. Other memories include the San Diego zoo, SeaWorld, the Justin Timberlake concert, and the Gaslight District. San Diego is a lot of fun. I never did make it in their baseball stadium. That is definitely still on the list for road stadiums to visit.
Somebody else that comes to mind when thinking of San Diego is Tony Gwynn. Watching some of the pre-HR derby stuff tonight, they had a really cool story on him. He was pretty awesome; still can’t believe he’s already gone. Loved batting with him in me and my brother’s wiffle ball games in the backyard. When you batted with him, you really tried to get a hit, since that’s all he did. One of the best pure hitters I’ve ever seen. It’s cool that he stood a Padre his entire career; that’s definitely not the trend nowadays. With people following the money, or trying to get a title any way possible, there isn’t much room for loyalty in today’s sports world. Yet, Tony was one of those rarities; would he have still done that in today’s world? I’d like to think he would. I’d like to think there are still guys out there like that.

At a superficial glance, levitra professional online may seem like a pipe dream.
More memories were made during the HR derby on Monday night. I watched a good chunk of the Derby; Trumbo and Stanton each had huge first rounds. They met in the 2nd round with Stanton advancing to the finals. Man is that guy huge. On the other side of the bracket, it was Todd Frazier, proudly representing the White Sox, and defending his home run derby crown from last year. He cruised through that side of the bracket to meet Giancarlo in the finals. He didn’t have enough, and Stanton was too much; nice showing by Todd, but don’t think anybody was getting Stanton this year. It was his from the start.
Next up, game day. A late addition to the all star rosters was one of the most deserving. Probably the most underrated pitcher in the majors finally got his recognition. Congrats to Jose Quintana. I think I heard he’s got the lowest run support for 4 years running… that’s brutal. Yet, he continues to go out there and do his job. You can count on him for a solid start almost every rip. He definitely deserves to be there.
It will be the Cubs against Sale when the bottom of the 1st rolls around; that’ll be a lot of fun for us Chicagoans. It’s a little prelude to the Cross-Town classic which is right around the corner. It’s going to represent some bragging rights for one side or the other. It should be fun. More San Diego memories to come…

Horrible all star uniforms…ugly choice!
Tony Gwynn was awesome…such a pure hit machine who was a loyal pro his entire career!
HR derby was pretty fun…stanton was a beast with some monster bombs. He won just as I thought he would. Was it just me or did the fans not really seem into it for some reason? Seemed awful quiet…lame ass padre fans!
Will be rooting for the Cubs and the nl for a victory tomorrow night!
