July 10, 2021: Company

To end the first half of the baseball season, the Cubs met the Cardinals at Wrigley. Wouldn’t it be nice to sweep them heading into the All Star break? Well, Friday afternoon started according to script, as the Cubs spanked them. You know what’s funny to me? The fact that the Cubs are fresh off an 11 game winning streak and yet they still have the same record as the Cardinals? It’s nice to have company in the standings, even if it is the hated birds…

Of course, the Cubs aren’t in Pirates’ territory… let’s hope they never make it back to the absolute bottom of the standings. Regardless of what happens from here on out, including the next couple years, I don’t think the Cubs will drift that far down the standings. But back to the Cardinals… while the Brewers and Reds were taking full advantage of the Cubs collapse, there they are… just muddling around… until finally “thud”… the Cubs landed on top of them. Let’s hope the Cubs hit rock bottom with that.

Friday afternoon brought back some good vibes, those vibes that have been missing for a LONG time. You got Hendricks throwing well, a big hit from our big free agent acquisition, a big hit from one of the big boys, and another from a new guy on the scene. It all added up to an ass kicking that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was driving around on Friday, so better yet, I got to listen to Pat and Ron help deliver the good news. Still not a huge fan of Boog…

One should keep in mind that Sildamax is also successful in decreasing the female cialis no prescription overnight sexual dysfunction. This drug is very much beneficial for the patients and this is the cialis generika 5mg high class remedy for this problem. I’m not a big fan of Joc either. If he has to be one of the pieces that is moved, I would have absolutely no issue with it. However, if pinch hitter extraordinaire Kris Bryant were to be moved… yeah, that would be rough. I like how he just came off the bench in this one with the bases loaded, swung at the first pitch, and hit it off the wall, clearing the bases. After a scorching May, KB had a bad June; he’s rebounded in July thus far. Regardless, I’d hate to think he’d be on the move, but I do realize this is a possibility. As far as the emergence of Patrick Wisdom, great to see. Whatever holes are created with the deadline moves, it’s nice to know Wisdom can help fill them; wait, he’s already been helping…

And yes, it feels pretty safe to say Kyle Hendricks isn’t going anywhere; that feels good to say. Our ace will be around for the “retool”, leading the way for what will probably be a brand new starting pitching staff, other than AA that is. After a rough start for the Professor, it’s been nice to see him return to his old form. It feels good to be able to count on a quality outing out of a starting pitcher; I wish there was somebody else on our roster I could say that about…

So about that sweep, well… the Cards would bounce back and return the favor on Saturday in the second game of the series, which lead us to the rubber game, but… Mother Nature had other plans, and the last game before the All Star break would be rained out… feels like an appropriate end to the first half of the season for the Cubs. Let’s sum it up next.
