Our 2nd day in Vegas started really early. Going to bed early in Vegas will lead to that; that was just the first example of me being an old man. Second example was that I actually liked walking down the strip at 630am. Now that’s not a new thing per se, but the fact that I was dead sober, after just waking up from a good night sleep, heading to get my family breakfast, made it much different than many previous Vegas mornings. Yeah, I’m definitely getting old. But that’s the thing I love about Vegas; there’s something for everybody, and no I’m not talking about the bottom of the barrel pros walking around at that time of the morning looking to catch a drunk dude stumbling back to his room. There were people exercising, running and speed walking down the strip. There were couples taking a morning stroll. There were families raring to go. Yep, Vegas has something for everybody.
We did start drinking early though… ordering some Dos Equis as we settled in at the pool for a day long affair. Caught a nice buzz, laying back, letting that sun beat down on me. Then back in the pool playing Spider Man vs Mysterio with my son. My father in law came by and hung out by the pool, watching my son show him his freestyle, breast stroke, and butterfly (he couldn’t do the backstroke because too many people.. he had to see where he was swimming). It was a nice day; we closed that sucker down. Not sure why the family pool closes at 5pm… don’t make no sense. Unfortunately, my son did not get a nap by the pool on this day; that would come back and get him later. He was burning it on both ends… up early, up late, enjoying every second of Vegas… His first ever concert would be on this Wednesday night. Yes, Gwen Stefani was the choice. Yeah, I know, but hey, it was a good show. I like a lot of her stuff, especially the early No Doubt songs, which she sang a lot of. It was entertaining no doubt, which should come as no surprise being in the “entertainment capital of the world”. My son only saw about half of it, before konking out in his seat. No worries… it’s all good… wish he could have stayed up, but this option was a whole lot better than a meltdown.

It was about 1230am when I hit the poker room, playing a cash game up until the start of the tournament at 2am. Lost about $20 in the cash game, and then officially lost $80 in the tournament after about 90 minutes of playing. 330am… not too bad. Thing was, I wasn’t even drinking. I was sitting at the poker table ordering cranberry juice, orange juice, and for God’s sake, hot tea!!! What the heck is wrong with me? I really am getting old.
Yeah, well, I needed to be 100% for our last full day. I knew it would be more of the same at the pool, and I couldn’t be dragging ass. We had one night left…
