How do you prepare for a playoff game? Well, when I woke up today, the day before the Bears matchup with the Saints, I had an idea. I wanted to watch some highlights of the last time the Bears faced the Saints in the playoffs; that was a fun game. Watching it should help me feel positive about tomorrow, and would hopefully bring some good mojo. Only problem is right before I was going to watch it, I saw something else on TV.
Batman was on Showtime, the best one with Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, and Kim Basinger. I love that movie, so I had to watch it. I remember going to the theater to watch that movie; it was one of the best movie going experiences I’ve ever had. The theater was packed, and was vocally reacting to all the big parts of the movie. The best was when Batman flew his batwing up in front of the moon before taking a run at Joker; the crowd went wild. Nothing against the Christian Bale movies, and of course I love the old Adam West shows, but this movie is the tops; I do love Dark Knight a ton too. Yeah, so I zoned in and finished it off before getting back to the plan.

Holy crap. That 2006-2007 season was magical. I was living in LA at the time, cozying up in front of the NFL package each Sunday morning at 10am with my polish sausage and beer, with my apartment door open, palm trees swaying, in 70 degree weather; it was different, but it was great. Most of the time I was texting with family and friends back home during the game; I was lucky enough to be in Arizona for the MNF classic. The Seahawks game was a bit scary, but this Saints game was a little more comfortable. Once Reggie Bush scored that TD to make it close, and did his little taunt, I knew it was over. We had some good RBs that year, especially that game. Always loved Thomas Jones; Cedric Benson had his moments, including this game. Grossman was bad, but it didn’t matter. Between the defense and running game, the Bears handled the Saints in Soldier Field as the snow started to fall. As soon as they won, I knew I’d be going back home to watch the Super Bowl; I checked for flights immediately. There was no way I wasn’t going to be with all this family and friends watching the biggest game of the year. It was everything I hoped it would be, except for the end result of course. So it turned out this victory over the Saints, raising the NFC Championship trophy, would be the pinnacle of our success that year. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Back to current day, and our matchup tomorrow. I’m not feeling confident by any means, but I am feeling excited. I’m not expecting much, but ready to cheer my ass off. I realize that the Saints are 10 point favorites for a reason, but I do believe we still have a chance, to not only cover, but win outright. I’m expecting Mooney to play, but not expecting to see Roquan; that hurts. It will be a little colder outside this time around, and although there may be some polish sausage, probably no beer, but my wife and son sitting next to me instead; it’s all good. Excited to be part of the kickoff of the NFL second season again; the fact that the Bears are not sitting on the couch with us watching the playoffs, but on the field playing, provides hope and excitement. Let’s do this! Bear Down!!!

Yeah, whatever came out on the Roquon injury? Was it really enough to sit out the big game? Knew without him, we’d be in trouble.
Looking back, always loved Jones, didn’t like to see him go.
