January 7, 2017: Reigning Buckets

“I love what I do.  I don’t want to let this organization down, my teammates, this city.  I live for this; this is what I wake up for.”

These are the words of Jimmy Butler after the Bulls win on Saturday night.  Any questions on why I love this guy?

Only if we all felt this way about our jobs…  THAT is the attitude to have.  Yes, it may be hard to draw comparisons here, but maybe not.  Loving what you do is key.  If you don’t have at least some love for what you do, then you should be doing something else.  That has to be a component.  Not letting people down…  It’s kind of hard to care so much for the organization you work for, especially in Corporate America, but the people you work with… or maybe the people that work for you… really both… it’s your personal work ethic that carries the day there.  The desire of wanting to do the best for them is important.  Then the city… maybe that’s the hardest comparison, although I love this city, and I represent all day every day, so it’s a stretch, but OK.  But back to Butler…

If you have been reading anything here, you know I have been talking a lot about Buckets.  He is becoming must see TV.  More than just the Bulls, who I try to tune into as much as any of my other teams, the main reason is slowly becoming to see what Jimmy does.  I remember a time when that was so, so true…

Yes, the Bulls are my team, and yes, I support them through it all, but when you had a chance to watch the greatest player in the game every game… how lucky were we?  Yes, our greatest player, our superstar, would turn out to be the greatest player of all time; did we realize what we were watching back then?  All I know, is that I never wanted to miss a minute of any Bulls game.  Why?  Because I didn’t want to miss anything spectacular that MJ did.  I don’t know if I knew the magnitude during my teenage years, but I did know that I loved watching him play.  We were truly blessed living in Chicago watching him play night in and night out.

I’m not saying Butler is there yet, but he’s getting there.  I’m not saying he’s the next MJ, but as far as Bulls players go, he’s turning into the best thing since.  Let me throw another quote at you.

“A lot of guys are putting up huge numbers.  They do it on one end; someone else guards the other team’s best.  Jimmy is doing both”

Those are the words of much maligned Fredberg.  He nailed it with those words though.  Not only is Jimmy single handedly saving the Bulls season, he may be saving Hoiberg’s job.  With 3 big wins in a row over quality opponents to put the Bulls back over 500, the heat off his seat has cooled a bit… yes, just that smallest of bits.  Who can he thank for that cooling feeling on his ass?  Jimmy Butler that’s who.

He has been the man.  I’m glad I’m seeing all those disputing those trade rumors that popped up earlier in the week.  Man would I be pissed.  GarPax miscalculated already.  They thought they needed to bring in big name guys to put people in the seats, but all along, they had the biggest name.  It’s Reigning Buckets people!!!  Enjoy and Go Bulls!!!

Droppin Buckets, he came to reign! Man, how good has he been? A few weeks ago, I said even Butler should be on the market. It is hard for me to continue that thinking unless the Bulls get some kind of mega deal for him. This guy has been playing his ass off, not that he hasnt always done so, but he is just in a zone right now. Even when he plays poorly, like vs the cavs, he seems to raise up when needed and carry the Bulls to victory. Here is a guy that plays both ends, night in and night out. No days off. No time for rest. Just like the GOAT, MJ, he never took games off. People went to see him play, and he was going to perform, unlike lequeen and other clowns now that take games off left and right. Back to Buckets, stay hot my friend. You are putting on a show. Can garpax get the right pieces together around you before it’s too late? I sure hope so. In the meantime, keep making it reign!
    GO BULLS and BUCKETS!!!
