There’s just not enough time. There’s only 24 hours in each day. How do you split those precious hours up? Work is inevitable. Family is most important. God is in everything we do. Then what? My thing is Chicago sports.
I try to make time for it all. We’ve been over this before. There is no way to watch every minute of every game. If that was part of my full time job, then yes, I would do it. Then, I would record it… pregame, postgame, everything. Makes no sense to record it now. When would I have the time to watch it? Although it is always nice to fly through commercials. But there is something to be said for watching it live; that’s important for me. So, I tune in when I can. Let’s take the Hawks for example.
Whether I catch the beginning of the game… the anthem if we’re home, or the end of the game when it counts… OT if I’m lucky, I always try to tune in. Besides what I have already mentioned, there is nothing else on TV that trumps my Chicago teams playing live. For me, that’s the only choice.
I caught parts of the last 2 Blackhawks games. The Buffalo game was great. I always like watching the Hawks down late. They never give up. Down a goal in the 3rd is where I picked up the action. You don’t have to be a hockey expert to realize how good that “Kane and the Russians” line is. Man, can they play. That is easily the top line on the Hawks these days. I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but they have to attribute for a big percentage of the Hawks goals this year. After all, and he did it 2 times on this night, Anisimov leads the team in goals. Yes, not Kane or Bread man, Artem Anisimov… I have his last name down, but I still need to double check the spelling of his first name.

They had put some really good pressure one on of their shifts a few minutes ago, and then they were back at it. This time, Kane flung a backhand towards the net. I’m not sure if it was specifically a pass, but it ended up right on the doorstep, and Anisimov pounced on it. Tie game! Crow was just skating off for the 6th attacker; no need. This game is going to OT.
I love OT in the NHL. The Hawks are equipped as good as any team when it comes to 3 on 3 hockey. With Toews and Kane out there together, it doesn’t get much better than that. Yes, I know Toews has been a bit down this year, but who is really worried about him when it counts? At the start of this OT, he started the rush. He absolutely undressed this guy… went right around him, to give himself an A+ scoring chance. He wasn’t able to convert though. No worries. Next time down, and yes, Toews and Kane were still both on the ice, Toews was at it again. He got off a quality shot, which ricocheted off the goalie’s left pad, and turned into a juicy rebound that Kane did not miss. Winner!
Friday night was the same, although this time, the MVP was Darling. We’ve talked about the top line and Toews, but it has been the Hawks goalies who have really carried this team this year. They have been the MVPs. Crow has been phenomenal, and when he was out for a while, Darling made sure the goalie play didn’t skip a beat. I was able to catch a few of his 39 saves I believe, against the Hurricanes on this night. We needed every one of those as we got a close 2-1 victory.
2 big home wins for the boys. Just like every win counts for the Bulls, every point counts for the Hawks. Too many times the last few years, it has come down to a few points to determine the seedings in the Western Conference. As of now, the Hawks still sit on top… their rightful place in the West. As for the Bulls, let’s get to them next.

Bhawks are good, real good! The KAP line, Kane Anisimov and Panarin, could be the best in the league…pretty damn amazing. Toews has been hurt and not himself this year, but I have no worries that he will get it going and be there when the Bhawks need him. He scored the first vs the canes and will get it going soon. Darling continues to the best backup in the league that could start for half the teams. How nice is it to have Crow and Darling between the pipes? A true luxury for the Bhawks to have. Keep racking up the points boys…would be nice to get that top seed with home ice througout.
GO BHAWKS!!!
