Where we going with this one?
Otis Wilson maybe. Mama’s boy part of one of the best LB crew of all time. I am doing the 85 Bears feature, so this could fly. Or how about sticking with the Bears theme and one of the people who wore 55 before him: Doug Buffone. Man I miss his Big Doug segments on the Score on Friday mornings, and him and OB after each Bears game ripping them a new one. Nope, we’re not talking about them today.
Then it must be double nickel time. The famous MJ return to MSG wearing the number 45 and dropping 55 on the Knicks. All those points and he ended up having the game winning assist to none other than Bill Wennington. I remember it fondly. Nope, not today, but we’re getting warmer.
And no it’s not about the Garfield bus line that runs to the Museum of Science and Industry, a hotel in San Francisco, or Psalm 55…all things that pop up when you search 55. Today, 55 is for the matching 5 game winning streaks of our Bulls and Hawks.
It’s really fun watching them play right now. The Bulls took care of business vs the Bucks at home to reach their part of the 55 last night, while the Hawks just finished a sweep of the Penguins tonight at the UC. How good has Jimmy Butler been? How good has Artemi Panarin been?

At 26 and 24 years of age respectively, they don’t quite add up to that 55. But 72 points in 72 minutes and 4 goals in 2 games, these boys are on fire and have played a big part in the recent winning ways of our UC teams.
Jimmy had a nice encore after his 40 point 2nd half performance in Toronto. He did a little bit of everything scoring 32 points, dishing out a career high 10 assists, and extending his ridiculous steal streak. Drose had a nice game himself as did Pau Gasol. Rose gave us a couple (one in particular) vintage moves to the rack…just go to the rim Derrick. Meanwhile, Gasol didn’t miss an open jumper. I’m not that crazy about him being camped out there, but when he doesn’t miss and the Bulls are winning, I can’t complain.
Bread man as he is affectionately known, is on his way to being the rookie of the year in the NHL. If you didn’t see each of his 4 goals the past 2 nights, I’d recommend checking the highlights. This kid is flat out amazing. That line that he plays on, with his Russian comrade and the NHL leading scorer and potential MVP, is the best on the Hawks, and one of the best in the NHL. Keep delivering that bread kid.
It’s great to win. It makes watching these regular season games in January that much more rewarding. We’ll remember these days when the postseason rolls around. The butler game and the Bulls team hug…Panarin’s beatdown of the Penguins and the Captain and crew defending him after LeTang took a run at him late at the UC. These are those team building, chemistry games that we all hope will pay off later. It’s fun to watch. Can’t wait for the next game. Go Bulls and Go Hawks!

Butler and Panarin have been awesome this year! Butler has the weight of it being his team while panarin can just play freely on the best line in the nhl right now. If both of these guys can keep it up, watch out opponents! Both teams are rolling right now and solidifying their positions in their respective leagues. Bulls keep gelling…1st in east not out of reach. Hawks back to #2 in the west and poised to repeat! Good times UC boys…keep rollin!
