January 3, 2016: Ready to Go Home

posted in: Bears | 2

So it didn’t look that way for much of the game.  The Bears played hard, and made this week 17 meaningless game very entertaining.  I watched these past 2 weeks just as much or more than I watched the first 14.

It’s kind of when the die hard steps up.  The season is over, there is no chance of making the postseason… why continue to watch?  That’s the question my wife asked me.  Because it’s the Bears was part of my response.  We only get 16 of these days a year, where we can watch them take the field, and play one of the best games in the world.  They’re our team, and I love watching them play; that’s why it’s so upsetting that another year is over… another year with no playoffs.

It’s also pretty upsetting that they could only muster 1 win at home this year.  OK, so silver lining is they were over 500 on the road, but still.  It’s in front of your home crowd where you should want to play the best.  Yes, I know we travel well, and there are Bears fans everywhere, yet, Soldier Field is almost exclusively Bears fans…. all 50,000 plus on this past Sunday.  Yes, there were 10,000 no shows.  I thought about it, but I’m waiting at least another year to take my son to his first Bears game…  I still need to get him a new jersey.

With the help of dynamometers, the risk of overloading has been minimized lowest price for levitra up to a great extent. Cutler has been a failure.  Yes, I too was mildly impressed with him this year.  I was happy to not hate him week after week.  Yet, in this “meaningless” game, he reverted back to his old self once more.  3 picks was the story of his day.  For all the numbers you want to quote me from this year, and the injuries on the offensive side of the ball, I look at 6-10 as the most important.  Again, he can’t be credited for each win or blamed for each loss, but in the big scheme of things, the QB is supposed to be the leader.  That win-loss record correlates more closely with their performance than anybody else on that field… period.  Yeah, check our records since he’s been here.  And we have another year of him coming…  without Adam Gase, the one guy who seemingly got through to him.  But why do we have to look for a guy to get through to him?  Can’t he be good enough and committed enough to work with and do well with any offensive coordinator?  We have more than enough excuses for good old Jay.  At the end of the day, he’s been a loser; this season was just another example.

The same goes for this 2016 Bears team.  For all the good stats, the improvement in areas, the improved coaching staff, any of the signs that may point in the right direction, it always comes back to one thing… scoreboard.  At 6-10, it’s hard to say this season was a success of any sort, unless you consider the #11 pick in the draft successful.  It will be more rebuilding to come… we’ll need a playbook to keep up with the changes on next year’s team, and we’ll talk about that over the days until the start of next season.  Does that mean another losing season next year?  It very well could be, and it may not be.  The margin between winning and losing for this year’s team was very close, and is something… something that shows us a little promise.  A couple plays here or there, and maybe we’re looking at a Wild Card game… but you could also say, a couple plays here and there, and we could be looking at a higher draft pick.  Still, is this Bears team that far off?  Should 6-10 be looked at as a miserable failure?  It’s time to hang up those Bears jerseys for the year… hibernation time.  Time to turn our attention to our other teams… yeah, those 2 teams that made Sunday not so bad.

again, move long back to guard where he was a pro-bowler.
don’t complain about ‘no receivers’ ’cause alshon was hurt, use the ones you have and let them ‘man-up’. we’re paying them, if you’re afraid to throw to them, get rid of them!
go after one of the qb’s coming out this year. quit picking-up back-ups.
have mandatory extra drills teaching tackling techniques to db’s.
get an oc with more imagination when calling plays, and not saving them for the last game of the season.

7 games lost this year by 1 score or less…can be looked at as a positive and negative. Either way, a losing season that continues to happen way too often with this great franchise. Here’s hoping the offseason goes well so 2016/2017 will result in the playoffs, at the very least.
Forte has been a stud for 8 years for the Bears. He is definitely underrated among the rbs in the nfl. Will he give the Bears a hometown discount? I doubt it, which is why I think he is gone because the Bears will probably franchise tag alshon for 1 year to see if he can stay on the field. I mean, he is only 25 and is a beast when healthy. Thanks forte for 8 great years! Hope you are in a Bears uniform next year but will understand if you are not.
Enjoy the offseason Bears…stay out of trouble!
