January 29, 2018: Super Pick

OK, I’m not going to wait any longer.  It’s 6 days to the game, but I’m going to make my Super Bowl pick today.

I didn’t do too bad in the playoffs from an ATS perspective.  4-5-1 is still a losing record though.  The good thing is I didn’t lose anything on it, except my pride.  Making these picks does get me to start thinking about gambling again though.  Just a $500 bankroll, that’s all I need to get rolling.  Well, whatever the approved bankroll would be, I would put it all on this game.  I’ve felt really good about it since the line dropped…

I’ll give you the half point.  I’ve seen it at 6, 5.5, and now even at 4.5, so I’m splitting the difference with you.  Obviously I’d much rather half the extra point, but really don’t think I’ll need it.  If you really want it, wait until the last minute, when that last minute Boston money comes rolling in on the Pats.  Although some would have thought the line would have been going up already and not down…  what gives?

Brady vs Foles is what the public will see.  How can you bet against Belicheck and Brady with 2 weeks to prepare?  These 2 sentences will be strong enough to keep the Pats money flowing in at some point…  they’re enough to make me second guess my pick, that’s for sure.  But I seem to remember all the Pats Super Bowls being close; no I’m not going to look it up.  But a FG game seems to make sense, and for that, either team you go with, my pick is safe.

Of course, I will be rooting for the Eagles to win outright; I think that’s an interesting bet too.  I would love to see the Pats get pasted, although how likely is that?  I just don’t want to see them win… again…ever.  And these feelings, have me worried too, because technically I’m betting on the side of my heart, which has burned me multiple times in the past.

I was actually thinking on betting some real money on this game… I’ve hit on some Super Bowls in the past, most notably Tampa over Oakland and Arizona covering against Pittsburgh.  I feel the same about this game.  Will I actually place a wager on this one?  Regardless, F the Pats and Go Eagles!
