January 27, 2025: Going Against My Word

I’ve been talking a lot of crap about the Bulls this year, shit, the last few years, but THIS year, I felt like I’ve reached my breaking point. After going to a few games this year, I was done. The first one was against the Timberwolves; no shame in losing to them, except the fact that they lead the whole game pretty much, and gave up like 50 points in the 4th quarter to lose while I had a whiny Wolves fan behind me; I was still OK. The second one, the Christmas game that we always like to go to, against the Bucks, was bottom of the barrel type shit. Milwaukee didn’t have Giannis or Dame Dollar and they still kicked our ass by like 30 points. If my wife wouldn’t have grabbed my arm and helped me leave that evening, I’d still be there booing my ass off. Finally, heading to DC for the New Year’s, we would see them on the road against the worst team in the NBA; surely this would be a win. Ha! The Wizards beat the crap out of us; is it me? Should I just stop going to games? After this trio of performances, I said I was done. We had already bought tickets for around my wife’s birthday, but no more! I’m not giving them any more of my money until this Bulls franchise gets their head out of their ass. Well, on this Monday night, I guess this was me going against my word…

I always say that the good thing about one of my teams sucking is that the ticket prices are reflected accordingly. Sure, the price that the Bulls sell the tickets at will not change, but the secondary market becomes a lot sweeter. Take for example this Monday night game at the UC against the Nuggets. I checked prices and saw that I’d be able to get all 3 of us in the UC, in the 300 level, in a section/row where I like to sit, for under $100. Plus, Jokic is one of my son’s favorite players; OK, I had to do it. Last minute trip to Madison and Damen on tap for the evening.

And, and… it was Fan Duel betting night… haha. Sure, just what I need. It was actually fun. We had to make 2 “wagers” each quarter. It was free and if we won we’d win stuff, like popcorn, or soda, or a hot dog, OR a Fan Duel jersey that we hit in the 2nd quarter. As soon as we won we made our way down to the Fan Duel sportsbook to claim our prize… along with 100s of other people; nice planning btw. It was an absolute mob scene, but we got our jerseys; we scored some free Garrett’s popcorn along the way too; very nice. But… most importantly, the Bulls actually played well AND THEY WON!!!! Yeah, I couldn’t believe it either. I think the Joker just gave us this one. It was Serbian night in his honor for this game; he wanted to make sure his Chicago Serbian peeps were happy. He had a great game and the Bulls won; win win for most in attendance that evening. Thank you Bulls for throwing us a bone this year; I’m glad we went. Glad to see the Bulls still have a little fight in them…
