It’s not Super Bowl weekend yet, and that’s OK. It’s Championship Sunday, which is my favorite weekend of the year in the NFL. It’s the 2 best teams in each conference battling it out to make it to the big one. It’s two solid football games back to back without all the BS that the Super Bowl brings us. If I could, I wouldn’t move from in front of the TV for those 6-7 hours. However, my son has a swim meet on Sunday… the sacrifices we make for our children… haha.
It won’t prevent me from betting on the games though, and from following them on the phone, and betting some more; I better warn my wife. “How many times are you going to use the bathroom?”… haha. OK, it won’t be that crazy, and yes, I’ve already decided on my picks, and placed an initial bet. I decided on my picks the second the games were over last weekend. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? You remember when you had to take tests in school, and your parents always told you stick with your first instinct… don’t second guess yourself. How many times did you listen? I tried, but it never failed… there was always something I wavered on, and ended up picking the wrong answer. It’s kind of the same with this sports betting stuff. I absolutely love the Lions and Ravens this weekend, but now I’m second guessing it? The line has moved towards the both favorites. Per the color scheme of the Super Bowl logo, it was written that the Niners and Ravens will meet, right? The Lions team of destiny? The Chiefs with Mahomes and Reid? What seemed so clear cut to me, is now very muddled. The more stuff I listen to, the more confused I get. Maybe I should just stop, and stick with my gut, and let it ride…. or maybe that’ll come with the final game of the season, the Super Bowl, better known as the biggest fixed game of the year. Fixed, scripted… spin it whatever way you like. This is entertainment people; sit back and enjoy it!
If your team is NOT in the Super Bowl, you can enjoy the game a little more; your mood for the next 6 months isn’t riding on the result. As a Bears fan, I’ve already filed this season away; sure, I’d much rather be walking that emotional tightrope right now, but this is a lot more relaxing, let me tell you. It will stay that way, as long as what I wager on the game is within my money management profile… haha. The Super Bowl is a big production, a game where the NFL tries to top themselves every year; this is the greatest Super Bowl ever, no THIS year is the greatest Super Bowl ever, NO, THIS year is the greatest Super Bowl ever. Calm down with all the “greatest of all time” rankings people. But yeah, the NFL, they do a fabulous job setting the table and delivering an exciting performance. This is why the NFL is king; deal with it.
OK, is it time to get into my picks and the details? I think so. Here goes nothing.
