With all the basketball activities going on this weekend, I didn’t get to watch as much football as I wanted to, but… I saw enough. And let me tell you, I slept like a baby Saturday night…
Yes, here is my annual Thank You card to the San Francisco 49ers. Since we can’t do it, we have to rely on the Niners seemingly every year, to take care of our nemesis in the playoffs. What they have been able to do should not be overlooked. 2012 Divisional Playoffs, check. 2013 Wild Card round, check. 2019 NFC Championship Game, check. 2021 Divisional Playoffs, check. And finally, this year… thank you, thank you, thank you. Ding, dong, the Packers are dead; I can watch the rest of the playoffs in peace knowing the cheese won’t be raising a Super Bowl trophy this year. It’s kind of sad to be so happy about this, but I don’t care. And yes, I’d much rather be celebrating a Bears win, but in the absence of that possibility, I will continue to celebrate each and every time the Packers lose, especially in the playoffs. How sweet it was! Not sure if they would have won the game if their kicker had made this kick, but… sounds like it was a Cody Parkey type situation, meaning, the Bears should have cut him a long time before he hurt us in the playoffs. If the Packers had done the same, after this guy missed big kick after big kick all year long, maybe they move on? That’s for the Packer faithful to think about. I’ll just sit here and smile.
That wasn’t the only game this weekend… The Ravens took care of the upstart Texans. After being tied at the half, they took over and ran away with it. They certainly look to be the Super Bowl favorite at this point, but… they’ll have to get past you know who. Yeah, the Bills blew it… again. They couldn’t get past their nemesis Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and the Chiefs, even IN Buffalo this time. Simply put, the Bills defense was nowhere near 100%, and with Gabe Davis out and Diggs a no-show, Josh Allen couldn’t do it all by himself. Tough tough loss for the Bills Mafia. I really wanted them to win, not only because I like them, but because I’m sick of the Chiefs; no dice. Thankfully, I bet with my head and not my heart in this game. That didn’t work in the 1st game on Sunday. I wanted the Lions to win but took the points with the Bucs. If they convert that 2 point conversion late in the 4th, I push, but… still happy about the Lions proceeding. Can’t wait for next weekend, Championship Weekend, the best day of NFL football all year long.
I grinded out a small profit this weekend, going 2-2 with my game bets, and 2-1 in-game. Didn’t have extremely strong feelings, but this weekend… yeah, I’m locking in. Maybe I shouldn’t be so sure so soon, but… much more to come on those games. Until then, hope all the Packers and their fans like Anthony Davis, find a good place to watch the games next weekend; time to hang up the cheese for the year. Boo ya!
