There was eight, and now there are four. The Divisional Weekend was spent cutting the field in half in the NFL. I was running around for most of the weekend; I didn’t get to sit down and watch a game until Sunday evening. That was a satisfying one. Let’s talk about the weekend that was in the NFL.
It started off well enough. I don’t care about the Jaguars; not a big fan of the Chiefs either. I was right about the fact that the Chiefs wouldn’t cover that 9.5. When Mahomes got hurt, I thought it was in the bag… then the back up dude led them down the field on a 90+ yard drive; so much for that. Patrick came back in; he did fine. He’s definitely NOT 100%, which will come into play when we talk about Championship Weekend, but for this one, his 50% was more than enough. I didn’t see the end, and the magical, spread covering FG that the Jags hit, but I’m thankful for it. Great start to the weekend.
Then there was the Giants… I swear, just before I locked them in, I thought about going oppo; I should have listened to that little voice in my head. When I checked the score, it was 21-0 Eagles. How good did they look? Obviously they dominated the G-men, but what does that mean? Were the Giants or Jaguars the worst team playing this weekend? Again, something to think about as we move forward, but for this night, Philly was rocking. Glad I didn’t try to chase that one down with an in-game Giants bet.
The shocker of the weekend was the Bengals Bills game. I like the Bengals; I think they’re a great team. But… they had 3 offensive lineman down; I’m sorry if I thought that would have an impact on this game… maybe next week? Anyways, the Buffalo defense really let me down, and honestly, so did the offense. The Bills didn’t play their A game, and they got their butts handed to them. OR… did they play their best and the Bengals are just that good? That’s scary. My Super Bowl favorite got shown the door this weekend, and yes, I did chase this one with an in-game bet… 2x loser… thanks Buffalo.
The weekend finale was lovely. I was on SF, my favorite of the weekend; I should have bet them heavier, but the way the weekend was going, I continued to tread lightly. It was a really good game. I have to be honest: I was very impressed with the Dallas defense. The Frisco defense, yeah, I knew they were good, but the Cowboys brought it on that side of the ball. It was Dak and their offense who let them down. The one guy I was worried about on the Cowboys was Tony Pollard; ugly injury to him… hope he’s OK. Once he went down though… those thoughts running around in my head about the Cowboys maybe pulling this one out, were gone. It was only a matter if Frisco would cover or not, and… they did. Thank you.
The field will be cut in half again next week. Other than the Bills who would be in that conversation, we’ll be seeing the best 4 teams in the NFL in action on Championship Sunday; that’s the way it should be. It is my favorite NFL weekend of the year… yes, even over the Super Bowl. Can’t wait to see how it plays out; will be back soon with my thoughts. Early leans… Cincy and Frisco.
