The Bulls haven’t been the only Chicago team slumping lately. The Blackhawks have been losing games too; imagine that! It’s understandable why we freak out about the Bulls losing streak; they’ve never won it all. They’ve been knocked down by injuries, and have been unable to stay healthy enough to make a run. The Hawks on the other hand, are proven champions. With 2 Cups in their possession in recent history, why do we worry about them?
Well, the Blackhawks broke out of their mini slump in a big way against a terrible Arizona Coyotes team at the UC on Tuesday night. The Blackhawks know how to right the ship. The Bulls should follow the blueprint.
It was Coach Q’s 500th regular season game as Blackhawks coach. Remember when he was first named coach after Denis Savard was canned? I was unhappy with the firing; that turned out to be golden. 500 games later, Coach Q reigns supreme as the top coach in Chicago. His 2 Stanley Cup victories speak for themselves. I ranked Thibs ahead of him as the coach I’d rather have. Currently, he’s coached 355 regular season games with the Bulls. He’s been very successful, yet has no titles. I wonder if these guys talk. I think it would be great if they did. I’d love to hear that conversation. I feel it’s ridiculous that people are questioning if Thibs is the right coach for this team during this Bulls slump. Who would you rather have coaching the Bulls? Popovich? He ain’t going anywhere. Who else? It doesn’t get better than Thibs for my money, but maybe Coach Q could give him some advice. That players only meeting the Blackhawks had seemed to help. Maybe that’s what the Bulls need? Maybe they need to share some secrets. Maybe Thibs can be the guy, like Coach Q, to bring some titles back to Chicago.
Patrick Kane scored his 200th career goal on this night as well. He’s the 20th Blackhawk to do so. He stepped up big in this game. That’s what star players do. They step up and help get the team back on track. It’s like the Ace of the staff in baseball; the losing streak stopper. Who else scored today on his bobble head night? You got it. Jonathan Toews. The leaders on that Bulls team need to step up and show the way. DRose has been playing better as of late, but is he the true leader of the Bulls? He definitely is a star, but Noah has been pegged as THE guy to lead this squad. Still, DRose, along with Jimmy and Pau, need to step up and get this Bulls team back on track.

Teuvo scored his 2nd career goal, and Shaw chipped in two. So not only did #1 and #1A come to play, the other players chipped in nicely as well. Overall, it was a total team effort. Again, this is the way you get back on track. Everybody comes to play. Your stars take the lead, and everyone follows the way. So, here’s calling out ALL the Bulls. It’s time to get it together.
That’s the thing about the Blackhawks. That’s the reason I’m not worried at all about them. They’ve reached the top of the mountain. They know what it takes. That’s the thing that worries me about the Bulls. I believe they are a great team. I believe they can do it, but they’ve never done it. Do they know what it takes? Do we have the leaders we can count on? Do we have the players up and down the roster that will follow? Do we have the coach that will push the right buttons?
One team got back in the win column on Tuesday night, and travels to Pittsburgh next in what will be a great game I’m sure. Meanwhile, the NBA champion Spurs come a knockin on Thursday night at the UC. It’s time. It’s time to show us that toughness that we know you have Bulls. It’s time to snap out of it. It’s time to get back on track. Follow me, said the Blackhawks… the Bulls should listen.

Blackhawks been there, done that. Toews steps up and scores first goal…captain and leader. They have been through the playoff and Cup finals. The Blackhawks are battle tested and know what it takes to get the job done. I am less concerned about their recent slide than the Bulls. Like the Blackhawks, the Bulls have the talent, but they need that leadership to push them forward. Yes, they have been playoff tested, but they need that leadership and experience to help them out of this funk. Better to have slides now than when it really matters. Both teams need to get it out of their system and play the second half of their seasons with the ultimate goal in sight for both. Nba and Nhl titles would be pretty damn sweet…just do it! GO BULLS!!! GO HAWKS!!!
