OK, with Wild Card weekend in the rearview, we prepare for Divisional Weekend in the NFL. With 4 games on the menu, it’s a great time to watch some football, although when isn’t a great time to watch? This time there will be a little money riding on the games, which always makes it a little more fun, well, as long as you win some. I’m sticking with low stakes at this point, which is a key to gambling success: don’t wager what you can’t afford to lose. I sound like one of those commercials; what follows next is “if you know anyone with a gambling problem….” Here we go:
Jags +9 at Chiefs– As soon as the matchups were announced, the one game EVERYBODY was sure of, was this one. Everyone knows that the Chiefs are going to annihilate the Jags, who frankly, shouldn’t even be in this game. Add in the fact that this one is in Arrowhead, and Andy Reid’s record off a “bye week”, and Patrick Mahomes… this is as close to a no brainer as possible. And…….. that’s why I’m going with the Jags. I really don’t like putting my money on the worse team, but when it comes to the spread, that’s what sometimes has to happen. Of course, I don’t think there’s any way the Chiefs lose this one, but the script should equal the Chiefs winning by like 1 point. Maybe a Jaguars TD late, down by 9; they go for 2, and voila… Chiefs ML comes in, but all KC teasers are torn up… and the Jags cover. Go to work guys.
Giants +7.5 at Eagles– I went against the G-men last week; I should have known better to place my money on the Vikings. I liked that game the most out of all of them last week, which is why, of course, I lost it; stay tuned for the game I like the most this week. It’s not this one, but… in their 3rd matchup of the season, between 2 divisional opponents, I see a close game. Just as the game above, I think the Eagles will prevail, but just like the game above, I think it will be close. Maybe a back door cover by the G-men in order?
Bills -5.5 vs Bengals– From two dogs, I’m going two favs on Sunday. Buffalo was my pre-season Super Bowl pick; I still like them. I do NOT like the fact that their bandwagon has grown to extreme proportions with what happened to Hamlin. Papa Vegas don’t like bandwagons that are THAT full. Still, I think the Bills are the best team; doesn’t always guarantee success, but… the fact that the Bengals will be down 3 offensive lineman cannot be overlooked. I like the Bengals too, and they have been hot, and maybe they want to take advantage of this 2nd shot at the Bills after that cancelled game which they were hosting; wait, am I talking myself into taking the Bengals? This one is tough, but… I think this one could actually be the biggest blowout of the week. Maybe Bills by like 20.
49ers -4 vs Cowboys– Yeah, I’m sorry, but this is my favorite play of the week; I can’t get away from it. I just can’t see the Cowboys beating the Niners, and that’s when I’m usually on the wrong side; I haven’t learned my lesson… yet. OR, maybe this one will come through? I mean, all the stuff that was said about Dak last week heading on the road to face a piss poor Brady Bucs’ team, can be said about him this week, heading back on the road, on grass, against one of the best defenses in the NFL with the most picks in the NFL; you betting on Dak to do it again? Yes, there’s the whole rookie QB Purdy thing; this has to come to an end at some point, right? Maybe, but hopefully not this week. I won with both of these teams last week; hope I got the right one this week.
I used to do these type of writeups, even more, back in the day when I was in my “hey day” of gambling. I used to live on Covers.com; it’s still around. I took a quick browse at it, but no, not going back to that. I’m just wading in the shallow end of the pool at this point; having a little fun. It’s always more fun when you win, but when there isn’t a whole lot of money on the line, stress is low. I am all out of bonus bets, so this will be my money that I’m wagering with this weekend, so there’s a little different dynamic… Good luck this weekend, especially to everyone on the same teams as me. Regardless of the scripting that occurs, the NFL is still king…
