OK, back for 2 more picks, this time for Sunday’s games. After riding with 2 favorites on Saturday, is it time to jump on the dogs? Here we go:
Lions -6.5 Bucs
If there was one team that I would like to go to the Super Bowl for the NFC, it would be the Detroit Lions; how can you not root for them? Even as a Bears fan, I don’t mind them, plus they’ve never won one… always root for teams like that. Word is, the tickets to get into this game at Detroit on Sunday are the most expensive ever… EVER! Think they’re excited about this team and their chances. They have a very good team, with a coach that is nuts but very likeable. Their running game, solid. Their passing game, Goff has been great and Amon-Ra… should have been an All-Pro. Their defense… they have Hutchinson, and… maybe this is their weakness? The Rams moved the ball really well on them last week, but kicked field goals instead of scoring TDs. Does this bend but don’t break defense keep it up this week vs the Bucs? Baker Mayfield…the Progressive commercial TV star from the Cleveland Browns… discarded by multiple NFL teams over his career… playing his best ball, maybe ever? I thought he was banged up… certainly didn’t look like that last week vs the Eagles. To be fair though, the Eagles were dead on arrival; can’t believe I didn’t pull the trigger on the Bucs in that one. I don’t think I’ll make the same mistake here. Just because I want a team to win, doesn’t mean I should be on them; it’s the head vs heart thing, next level… not just my teams, but on teams in general I’m rooting for; keep that in mind for the next game. The big advantage the Bucs have over the Lions in this game is their defense. I think this factor will keep this game close. Going to hold out, and hope for a full 7 points for the Buccos. Here’s hoping for a 1 point Lions win.
Bucs plus the points
Bills -2.5 Chiefs
If there was one team that I would like to go the Super Bowl for the AFC, it would be the Buffalo Bills; how can you not root for them? For God’s sake, they’ve lost 4 Super Bowls!!! The pain… Now, they face a familiar foe; Mahomes and the Chiefs have ended their season before, but this time, it will be on the Bills’ home turf. Does this make a difference? Heck yeah. I couldn’t believe when I read this is Mahomes’ first road playoff game; I was kind of pissed about it, because I think this will be a point to prove for the NFL’s golden child. Out of the remaining teams, besides the obvious, I hate the Chiefs… won too much, too many damn commercials, they’re everywhere you turn, and now Taylor Swift… just kill me now. I want the Bills to win so bad, but is the NFL ready to let that happen. It’s not just the NFL with the refs and their crooked calls, but the Chiefs actually have a defense this year; this, not the Mahomes and Ma-Auto lead offense, has been their strength. The Bills defense has been huge in their comeback down the stretch to make the playoffs by winning their division; the Bills were almost eliminated… and here they sit, with a 2nd home game, against their nemesis. The Bills defense is banged up. Not only have they lost guys from the start of the season, but last week lead to more wounded. I like Josh Allen, Diggs, the 2 TEs, and Cook; not sure if Gabe Davis will be playing either, which could be big. But Mahomes, Kelce, Pacheco, and the group of WRs who can’t catch, always seem to find a way; it points back to Mahomes… and oh yeah, Andy Reid, who out of all the coaches left, has to be considered the best, right? Certainly not the guy the Bills have running things. I’m taking the Chiefs in this one; waiting to hopefully get a FG. Same as the game above… hoping for a Bills 1 point win.
Chiefs plus the points
OK, waiting on these two games to get an extra half point before locking, but it has been determined. Hopefully will get to watch a good chunk of all these games this weekend. Not quite the best weekend of the NFL season IMO (that comes next week for me), but pretty damn close. Enjoy it and good luck… football will be gone soon for the summer.
