Winning is awesome. There is nothing like when one of my teams wins. Whether it be the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, or Blackhawks, any time they win a game, it brings a smile to my face. There is nothing better in sports.
What comes in as second best, is when a team that I hate loses. And that is what I write to you today about… It doesn’t get much better than yesterday’s Packers choke.
I wasn’t even watching the game. My wife and I are hooked on Breaking Bad, and just started Season 3 yesterday. It was a three episode marathon as my son napped the afternoon away. I began to get some text messages… Packers moneyline +300 and +9. Stealing. And then I got… game over. See ya Pete. I felt myself getting pissed, thinking, I’m going to have to watch these Cheeseheads in another Super Bowl. Then, I told myself, what do I really care? So what… screw them, I don’t care what happens. I was talking myself out of the hate… trying to front like I didn’t really care.
Then I turned on the game… there was about 3 minutes left. I saw the situation, and agreed, that the game was over. My wife said stranger things could happen… she was right. The ending to that game was CLASSIC.
First, the TD to pull it within a score. OK, so what… they still need this onside kick, or will be left with under one minute & no timeouts to score… both had some bad odds. Then, it happened. When I saw that ball bounce off the Green Bay TEs helmet into the hands of the Seahawks, I couldn’t believe it. I got some hope. When Marshawn Lynch ran it in a couple plays later, I just knew he scored too early. There’s too much time left on the clock for Rodgers… They need to get this 2 point conversion. They did. OK, that guarantees OT, and OT is where this game went. Then once the Seahawks won the coin toss, 2 perfect passes were thrown, and the game was over. WOW!

If I had a bottle of champagne, I would have opened it. I felt like that damn undefeated Miami team who pops open champagne every time the last undefeated team in the NFL loses a game. I called my brother… screw Green Bay!!! Celebrate!!! The NFL season is NOW officially over… the Packers are going home. The mighty Packers will be watching the Super Bowl from the same place the crappy Bears will be watching… their couch!!!
I want to get a picture of that onside kick, and the ball bouncing off his helmet, and place that on every screensaver across the state of Wisconsin. All these people walking around downtown wearing their Packer gear… HA! Speaking of HA… how about that Ha Ha Clinton Dix, you know the guy the Bears should have drafted according to many “experts”? I guess he had a good game, but the play I saw… when he was watching that pass for the successful 2 point conversion float in the air… for about 4 seconds… standing there… acting like the football was a meteorite… thinking what should I do here… just fricking AWESOME! Oh yeah, and what about discount double check bitch? I saw him limping on his run late in the 4th, then about 5 minutes later, jumping up and down on the sideline after the Crosby kick. So how hurt are you dude? Trying to play that injury card, trying to be a hero… there’s only so many Willis Reed games, and MJ Flu Games… then you have the LBJ cramp game, the Peyton quad, and now the Rodgers calf… just ain’t gonna happen buddy!
Whew, OK… that felt good. You know, I really don’t like to celebrate in other’s despair, but… exceptions are made. The Seahawks, a team I really don’t like, have made their way into a small piece of my heart. I will always be thankful for them… kind of like I was the Giants that one year against the Pack in the NFC Championship game, or the Dallas Mavericks when they beat the Heat in the Finals. I thank you Seattle, for bringing some joy in my life… if only for a moment. To see Green Bay choke like this was outstanding.
You know, I don’t feel sorry for any fan base… ever! Remember, I’m a Cubs fan, and have been through the ringer without ever getting OUR moment to celebrate. Well, that will be changing soon too. Maybe then, I’ll have some compassion for other teams. Maybe then, I can close out the Hate Files… Nah, probably not, and if I ever did, there would be one team that will always have a Hate File, and that is the Green Bay Packers. I even enjoy typing those words today. Bye Bye Green Bay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a good feeling seeing the Packers loose. I watched the 4th Quarter of the game thinking they had it locked down, boy was I surprised when a former BEAR caught the winning TD! Fate works in mysterious ways!
2nd game was good for about the 1st 5 minutes, good to see LUCK get a wakeup call.
Packers get beat by a former BEAR and the team that took the BEARS out in the super bowl gets beat down….wow what a day!

HAHAHA…bye bye fudge packers! Enjoy the offseason…rest that calf geiko…eat some more cheese mccarthy…enjoy your release bostic. Next year, the Bears will be kicking your ass! I am not a sore winner or loser, but when you hate a team, like the packers, it brings you joy to see them suffer just like your team. The way it happened, too, seems like something that would happen to us. To blow the biggest halftime lead in conference championship history means something…congrats packers, all is not lost. Enjoy the superbowl…or dont…just glad they wont be playing in it. GO PATS!!!

Packers covered easy, never in doubt. All the haters lost, even the ones that got Seattle -6.5 right before the game. Go Patriots!
