January 18, 2017: Still Waiting

Championship Sunday is coming.  For me, it is the best football day of the year.  There is only one problem with that this year…well, besides the fact that the Bears are not playing.  The Packers are still alive.  I’m still waiting for their season to end.

Will it be Sunday, or will the NFL get their match up of Brady and Rodgers?  Really, you could make an argument that the 4 best QBs are left standing.  Matty Ice has to be included in that conversation, no?  He’s had a tremendous year.  And then there’s Big Ben.  Maybe he’s not top 4, but he’s no slouch.  How will this weekend go?

Well, that’s what I’m here for.  Whatever I say in these next four hundred words, you should do the exact opposite.  At least I had a respectable divisional week.  After an 0-4 Wild Card weekend, I went 2-2 with my ATS picks last week.  At 2-6, I am guaranteed a losing record in this NFL postseason.  But it doesn’t necessarily mean I would lose… you know, if I was betting with real money on these picks, it would be time to amp up the units.  These next 3 games would be primo bets.  Who you got?

Will the absence of Gronk finally catch up to the Pats?  Probably not.  Tom Brady is ridiculous, and that is why I’m sick of him too.  The Steelers have some pretty great weapons with Bell and Brown.  They will be tough to stop.  The biggest difference with the Steelers over the last half of the year has been their defense.  Get to Brady and they can win outright.  We’ve seen that script before.  Pressure rules, even against the great Tom B.  Put him on his ass, hold their offense in relative check, and I can see the Steelers winning outright.  I’ll take the points to be safe.
