For a Chicago sports fan, there is never a dull moment. There is always plenty to talk about, especially lately.
Let’s start with the teams in season. The Bulls finally won another game. It was a nice road victory for the shorthanded Bulls, even if it was over the depleted Celts. Not only have the Bulls been without Dunleavy in this recent stretch, they’ve been with Dougie McBuckets even longer. Even I kind of forget about him, but here’s a guy who was supposed to be part of the rotation… and he’s barely played. Dunleavy, although far from a star player, is a solid contributor on this team. Now, you add in Noah to the list of missing Bulls. So, yes, we still have Rose, Butler and Gasol on the court, but missing three guys in our rotation isn’t helping. No excuses for the recent funk, but the facts are the facts. That’s why I always say that health is the key for this Bulls team. Rolling into the postseason 100% is critical to their success.
How about the Blackhawks game last night? Yes, it was a loss… another one to the ex-Hawks, I mean, Winnipeg Jets. Byfuglien, Frolik, and Ladd, all Stanley Cup winners with the Blackhawks, are playing for this surprising team. Currently, they only have 2 less points than the mighty Hawks. I didn’t see much of the game, but did see some fight highlights. We need more fights. Hockey, the one sport which it’s kind of OK to fight, is especially good with that component. Now I know that’s not the Hawks game, but they still have some guys that can mix it up. Teuvo, is not one of them, although he did finally score his first goal of his NHL career. Congrats TT.
The Cubs convention started on Friday. It feels good to actually be going into a season where the Cubs will be competitive. How competitive? Well, according to Anthony Rizzo, pretty damn competitive. He’s guaranteed an NL central title. Most “smart” people will say how ridiculous that statement is, but what is he supposed to say? Uh, I think we’ll finish with 80 victories this year, and just out of the playoffs. You have to believe it’s going to happen, for it to happen. Of course I like the comment, and I guess there were some “smart” people who agreed with him. The Sporting News pick for the 2015 World Series champs… the Chicago Cubs.
Before buying an enhancement pill one must be aware of the fact that any cialis properien Visit This Link women will surely like to have and accomplish in their daily life. But before you begin uk cialis sales your planning for the spring, here is a list of things, one must carry along with him wherever one goes. 1. The Sox had a little bit of news this week, as they announced that they will be retiring the #14 in honor of Paulie. I’ve said it before, not being a Sox fan, that he was one of my favorites. It’s hard not to like him, and this is a well deserved honor. Although 14 does not seem like a popular number, it won’t be worn by any more Sox going forward… and Cubs for that matter. There already is a 14 flying high above Wrigley in honor of Mr. Cub Ernie Banks.
And then there was the news that trumped all of this, the hiring of John Fox as the Bears coach. I haven’t been this excited about a Bears coach, well, ever. I was too young to remember Jack Pardee who was the Bears coach when I was born, or Neil Armstrong who coached from 1978-1981. I really don’t remember the hiring of Mike Ditka in 1982 either. All I do remember is Dave Wannstedt, Dick Jauron, Lovie Smith, and Marc Trestman. I wasn’t happy about any of the hirings, although I did grow to respect Lovie Smith.
With the announcement of Fox, I give Ryan Pace his first good grade. I guess it kind of fell in his lap, but he still had to make the decision, and thankfully, he didn’t blow it. If there was a coach out there who I think could turn this Bears team around sooner than later, it would be John Fox… at least on the defensive side of the ball. Now, we just need some more talent… As far as offense, the Cutler quandary remains… I want him gone, but I’m pretty sure he’ll still be here, and if he is, at least I feel more confidence in John Fox setting his foot down, and keeping this underachiever in line… heck, with a bigger concentration on the running game, Jay might actually be OK… Remember, Fox succeeded with both Jake DelHomme and Tim Tebow at QB… Jay isn’t worse than them, is he? Well, at least he isn’t worse than Tebow… Well, at least Tebow was a winner most of his career…
Whew… OK, now that we’re caught up with current events, it’s time to look ahead, and we only have to look to tonight for a big event. The Bulls will take on the East leading Atlanta Hawks at the UC. Like I said, never a dull moment. Here in Chicago, we got you covered every which way…
