OK, let’s try this again. Heading into the divisional round, we look at the final eight teams and their matchups, trying to pick winners against the spread. How’d I do last weekend? Well, I doubled up on Houston (points & ML), so that was good. Pittsburgh shit the bed, but still a winning Saturday. I decided to sit out Sunday; if I had went with my picks, I would have went 1-2… good move! Of course, Monday… not so much. I tripled up on the Vikings, including in-play, and got wiped out. So, overall, a losing wild card weekend in the NFL; should I be surprised? The NFL has been kicking my ass this year. Here I am… a glutton for punishment; here we go:
HOU +8.5 at KC–> Is my hate for the Chiefs seeping in here? Maybe. Seeing them win close game after close game this year has made me sick, on top of seeing them in practically every Super Bowl lately. I should just be happy the Packers are out, but nooooo…. I want these bastards out too. I would literally be OK with any other team winning it all. Houston played well last week, which did NOT match their regular season performance; still, I like the Ryans and Stroud combo. It certainly isn’t better than Reid-Mahomes, but… the Texans did get a taste of some road playoff football last year, so they do have some experience… again, not like KC. Still, taking the points to me in this one is a slam dunk; I’m just trying to figure out if I’m going to sprinkle on the ML.
DET -8.5 vs WAS–> It’s been a nice run for the Commanders/Redskins/Football Team. Daniels is a nice QB and all. Winning on the road on wild card weekend was impressive, you know, rookie QB on the road in the playoffs working against them. However, they’re going into a Lions’ den on Saturday night… like that? That place will be absolutely rocking; the Lions, the Super Bowl favorites, will be ready. I’ve been hesitant laying the points throughout the year with them, but not for this one. Make this number whatever you want, I’m on the Lions. I just wish I would have bet on them to win the Super Bowl before the season started; I did pick them back then…
PHI -6 vs LAR–> Color me shocked with how the Rams beat the Vikings on Monday Night. Can’t believe the Vikings choked like that, although knowing their history, it shouldn’t be surprising. I have to give the Rams some credit too, right? Well, if you want to tell me you’re not that confident in the Philly coach, fine; I hear you. If you want to tell me their offense is a bit overrated, OK, I can get there. I’m looking at their defense, under Vic Fangio; they are legit. Travelling to Philly will be a bit different than playing at home, even though it wasn’t home, indoors. A little leary of the points here… not locking this one in yet, but certainly think the Eagles will prevail.
BUF ML vs BAL–> MVP candidates face off in the best game of the weekend. Hopefully, the winner of this game will be the AFC representative in the Super Bowl. The Ravens look tough; there is no way around that. The Bills have been a big surprise all year. We know about Josh Allen and all, but… I guess there are no buts. He IS the Buffalo offense. Everything flows through him. I think the Bills defense isn’t too shabby, and has gotten healthier throughout the year, which was the problem last year if I remember correctly. Playing this game in Buffalo vs Baltimore hasn’t stopped money from coming in on the Ravens, but will be part of the deciding factors for me playing the Bills in this one.
I’m hoping for Buffalo vs Detroit, like I was last year. Maybe this is the year a team who has never won a Super Bowl will get one. If this is the matchup, it is guaranteed. Good luck!
