Before we get to the Bulls (saving the best for last), I wanted to talk a little about the Cubs. How are you feeling about the offseason? There certainly hasn’t been any of the big splashes some expected, but I swear, reading stuff out there, seeing what some Cubs fans are saying, you’d think the Cubs are headed for a crappy season. That’s a bit of overkill, no? What do you think?
I don’t think the Cubs are going anywhere, and by that, I mean they’ll be right where they’ve been the last 4 years, near or at the top of the division. Are you worried about the other teams in our division? Who did the Brewers add by the way? Grandal? And their pitching? They pieced it together nicely last season, but will they be that lucky again? If any team is a candidate for a regression off their one time wonder of a season, it’s them. If you can count on any team being a pain in the ass, it’s the Cardinals. They did good. Goldschmidt is a stud, and yes, he does especially well against the Cubs. But, how’s their pitching staff look? Speaking about pitching, or lack there of, how about those Reds? Nice lineup no doubt, but name one of their starters? No, Homer Bailey is not one of them. The Pirates? They did add Chris Archer. They will be in last place. That brings us back to the Cubs, and let’s start with our pitching. Lester, Hendricks, Quintana, Hamels, and Darvish; name me a better starting five in baseball. Does Lester finally decline? Was picking up the 20M option on Hamels a mistake? Will Darvish stay healthy? There will always be questions, but on paper, I’ll take those guys against anybody.

So let’s add Harper or Machado! I’m sorry, but the offseason will not be made or broken based on if we sign one of those two guys. I do believe that we have enough. Sorry, I’ve said this before but, 60 more games of Bryant this year, plus a healthy KB… That’s got to be good for a few wins; that’s just the reality of it. Will Baez be as good? Maybe not as good. We know what we’re getting from Rizzo. And what about Addison? He’s been the most polarizing figure this offseason. Besides killing the front office for not making that big splash, people are starting up stuff to get rid of Russell. Seriously? Not defending what he did for a second, and understanding that some folks have stronger feelings about it then others, but the Cubs made it clear where they stand. Think it’s BS? Don’t agree with it? That’s your right. So now we’re not trusting in Theo? At the same time, no matter who it is, we won’t agree with every decision. Where on the spectrum were you in 2016 when the Cubs got Chapman?
It’s all a bit over the top if you ask me. Personally, I can’t wait for the season to start. Will this year be the hardest yet? Maybe, but that’s ok. I see only one team in our division with 4 straight playoff appearances, and a recent World Series title. Bring it on. Go Cubs!

I cannot wait for the Cubs and baseball to return. I agree that the feeling down on the Cubs is ridiculous. No need to sign harper or machada, neither will be worth whatever deal they sign. The Cubs just need to get their mojo back from 2016. Add a piece here or there, tweak some offensive strategies, and keep guys healthy. I still believe in the Cubs. They are still young and super talented. Their starting rotation can compete with anyone else’s in the mlb. Joe is still leading the charge with a new hitting coach. A healthy Yu and KB all year will be a big help. A win or two here or there last year, and the Cubs wouldnt have been out early, but it was what it was. Onto 2019 and I cant wait! GO CUBS GO!!!
