January 15, 2016: Tricky

The official move date. The date that I’ve been consumed with the past couple months. It has been stressful.  My teams are a big help through these times. I can just sit back and enjoy as they play regular season game after game. Sometimes, and it’s pretty rare, I don’t get a chance to see anything from a game…highlights, articles… Nothing.  That’s what happened this past busy Friday.  I did eventually find out.

I got some tidbits throughout the night. Going into the game against the Mavs, I felt that the Bulls were in trouble.  The night before, Butler pours in an exhausted 53, while Rose and Gasol didn’t even play. Meanwhile, Dallas had rested their starters the previous game.  It was a formula for failure.

The first update came early and the Bulls were winning…and Gasol and Rose were both playing.  Maybe they did have a chance.  Then I got the message that Noah was running back to the locker room after reinjuring his shoulder. Now we know, that his season is done. Joakim may have played his last game as a Bull…and that makes me sad.  The result of this game, that I expected going in, paled to this turn of events for Jo.

The Bulls just finished off their 4 games in 5 nights with a 1-4 record.  That’s Butler’s big game performance against the 4 win Sixers away from a clean 0-5. Who is this Bulls team?  How will Hoiberg guide us from here on out?  It’s been all over the place along with plenty of drama so far.  Never a dull moment that’s for sure; expect more of the same.

Meanwhile up in Canada, the Blackhakws were finishing their back to back, this time against the Toronto Maple Leafs. It turned out to be a big night all the way around. 10 in a row plus a hat trick.  The first regular season hat trick for 88. That was a bit surprising when I heard that…I figured he’d got a couple already, but numero uno was Friday night.  And how about those western division leading Blackhawks?  10 in a row!!!  When do the playoffs start?

Time to get back in the zone…the Chicago sports zone.  It’s a tricky balance to say the least, but with the move in the books, we get a few minutes back per day.  It will always be a memorable day, this January 15th.  With the Noah injury, the Kane hat trick, and the 10 game winning streak, I’ll be ready to answer those trivia questions years from now. Maybe we swing our attention to the NFL playoffs now… As you may have guessed, I’m pretty happy after one of Saturday’s results.

Hawks are HOT! Kane hat trick being his first in the regular season as he has a few in the playoffs. Kane and crow leading mvp candidates in my book. This Hawks team rolls on back to the top of the western conference…ho hum, another awesome Hawks season leading to the playoffs and another Cup, hopefully!
