Today, I wanted to talk about the Golden Globe nominated film with Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo. This drama about the 1988 Olympic wrestling team…. wait, wait, wait… Not that Foxcatcher. I’m going to talk about Ryan Pace’s new nickname.
On the way home from work yesterday, there was a report of breaking news: The Denver Broncos part ways with John Fox. I was elated. With Fox being available, he immediately moves to my new number one head coaching candidate for the Chicago Bears.
I started sending out text messages. I was yelling in agreement with the radio talk show hosts, and most of the guests that were calling in. What a great turn of events. Initially, I wanted Jim Harbaugh before he went to Ann Arbor. I would have been OK with Rex Ryan and Mike Singletary, both previous head coaches with Bears ties; one will be residing on the Buffalo sidelines next year. I liked Jack Del Rio too; looks like Oakland has him lined up. I was excited about the prospect of a young defensive coordinator coming aboard, like Todd Bowles from Arizona. Now, it’s all changed. The trump card has been thrown down, and it’s John Fox.
You notice I never mentioned Mike Shanahan. I’m not a fan. I’m not a fan of someone coming here with the purpose to “fix” Jay Cutler. I think it’s pretty clear how I want that drama to play out. My wife keeps pissing me off showing me photos of Jay and his wife at parties, and on vacation, with Jay smiling ear to ear. Maybe he should just concentrate on that, because he certainly doesn’t look anywhere near that happy to be quarterbacking the Bears. OK, forget about him… this is a good day. This morning, I just read that the interview has been set; it all seems too good to be true.

What other current coach in the NFL would you rather have? Let’s say all of them are available, who would be your number one candidate? My #1 candidate would be Jeff Fisher. I always liked him, I think he’d want to be back here… the timing just never seemed to work out. Other than that, Belicheat? Great coach, multiple Super Bowl rings, but don’t like him; I’d love to just pull those strings on his hoodie and squeeze his face. The same goes for 2 of the other coaches still coaching, Mike McCarthy and Pete Carroll. Both with a Super Bowl title to their credit… both coaches I’d like to punch. I don’t like anything Green Bay, so there goes McCarthy. You know I really hate him after that debacle this year when he came out after halftime, up 42-0, saying that he wanted to punch us in the mouth. Excuse me? You already did that, and NOW you want to talk crap? You fat, spineless, cheese stuffed turd. And Pete Carroll? There’s a real slime ball, who slithered his way out of USC before the sanctions came down, who coached that “professional”, paid team in LA. Other coaches that I do like include John Harbaugh, Ron Rivera, and Bruce Arians, but they all fall BEHIND John Fox. As of yesterday morning, I would say from the current NFL head coaches, John Fox would be my #2. Now, he’s available, and that makes him #1.
With this hire, picture our Chicago coaches. With Q and Thibs, we’re set with the Hawks and Bulls for a long time. With the hiring of Joe Maddon, the Cubs got one of my dream managers. Yeah, there’s still Ventura, but the addition of John Fox would give us almost a clean sweep of solid coaches. Here’s a guy with successful head coaching experience, check. Here’s a guy who’s coached teams with multiple QBs, Del Homme, Tebow, and now, Manning, to the playoffs, check. Here’s a hard nosed, tough, defensive minded coach, check. Yes, kind of like Maddon, he’s been to the Promised Land, but hasn’t cashed in… Here’s hoping 3 times is a charm. He’s got some personality, He’s got some fire. He was the defensive coordinator on the Giants when the GM was… Ernie Accorsi, and the offensive coordinator was… Sean Payton. Slam, Dunk!
So Ryan, you’ve just been served up a head coach on a platter; wow, this new GM job is pretty easy. Don’t blow the layup. Don’t try to get cute. Make the hire. Bring a head coach to the Bears that will bring all those qualities you were looking for. Bring a head coach to the Bears that has a successful, head coaching track record; that would be a first. You want to turn this team around quickly? You want to continue to make that great first impression? Yeah, I would like to go see that movie, but you Ryan Pace can be THE Foxcatcher. Make it happen!

Agree…Fox is the guy for the job. Unless he completely does not impress when interviewed, which I dont see why he wouldnt, Fox is the man! That “pace” bus is rollin…time to hear what does the “fox” say? BEAR DOWN

I say give Fox a 3 year contract, trade the CBC and a 1st round draft pick for RG3 and 4th round draft pick, but make Washington eat CBCs contract.
1st 4 picks in the draft should all be used for defense, LB, LB, CB, and DT.
If that happens, i’m on board with Pace.
