January 10, 2016: A Gase of the Sundays

posted in: Bears | 1

We knew it was going to happen right?  Don’t tell me you were surprised. Bears OC Adam Gase was hired by the Miami Dolphins as their new head coach this past Saturday.

Are you really devastated?  I’m not.  Wait a second. Wasn’t I the guy praising Gase and the whole coaching staff?  I even said this may be one of the best sets of coaches ever for the Bears?  Yeah, I was on that BeatGreenBay high.  Don’t get me wrong. I think Gase is a good coach, just as Fangio and Fox. However, at the end of the day, it’s about results, and 6-10 doesn’t get it done.

Maybe that’s what we should have expected this year. Maybe.  Maybe we should just be OK with missing the playoffs 5 straight years. Uh, no.  At the end of the day, the entire coaching staff can’t get more than an average grade.  6-10 isn’t even 500…

But he was a hot commodity and Miami scooped him right up.  Good for him. Good luck to him. The Dolphins have a good core of talent, and may be poised for a big turnaround this upcoming year. We’ll see. I just don’t know what we’re going to do without him. What will Jay do without him?

Jay has got his final built in excuse; a fitting way to end his Bears career next year. With so much progress made under Gase…I’m sick of hearing that shit. That’s because the bar has been set so low.  I’ve been over this. 6-10 and I’m supposed to be jumping up and down about Jay’s progress?  This guy was supposed to be an elite QB; well, we know how wrong we were.

Instead of getting a guy who is going to make everyone around him better, we got a guy that needs everything to be perfect for him to do well..and we still haven’t seen sustained success over time. First, the Bears defense was phenomenal. Then, we try to build the offense for this guy while we let the defense go down the toilet.  We have to find the “right guy” to get through the to him.  How stupid are we?  The Cutler experiment is over. The guy was never who we thought he would be.

Yet, next year’s schedule will be one of the easiest in the NFL. Jay got his guy to succeed Gase in Dowell Loggins…I didn’t check the spelling. I never heard of the guy. I mean, another option was Jim Bob Cooter. We hiring a new OC or a NASCAR pitboss?  Anyways, good ol’ Dowell will try to keep some continuity going and build on young Jay’s best statistical year.  Young Jay…ha. Ok, I’ll stop.

So it’s whatever from this front. Our success shouldn’t hinge on how one of our coordinators gets along with somebody.  Every piece is important in building a winning team, but even if it was Jim Bob, our QB should be the one to shine through it all…at least an “elite” one.

So the beat goes on.  I’m not worried about it. I’ll be curious how the Dolphins will do in the red zone next year.  For all the good game planning this year, there was definitely some questionable in game play calling, especially in critical situations. Until then, I wait for the next Bears QB to take the reigns. Unfortunately, until then, we’ll continue to have a Gase of the Sundays, with or without Adam. When will we see the postseason again?

Knew gase would be leaving so maybe that is why I dont care. Either way, I didnt see anything special this year with the play calling. He was fine, better than some in the past, but that is not saying much. He probably changed jay’s diaper and gave him a bottle when needed all year. Hooray for jay, he cut down his turnovers yet the Bears were still 6-10. Get this guy out of town already…I would rather give a rookie some experience than this clown who will never lead the Bears anywhere! Goodluck in miami gase…dont really care.
