January 1, 2017: New Year, Same Old Blog

posted in: Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, White Sox | 1

This can’t be a good sign for 2017.  The new year has started, and I’m already behind on my blog.  What does that mean?  It means I’m busy with other shit, like family stuff, and enjoying my time off, so I didn’t get a chance to write for a couple days, that’s what it means.  I apologize in advance to the handful of people, mostly that family I was doing stuff with, and my 40…wait, 39 followers on Twitter.  Have no fear.  I’m still here.  New year, same old blog.

Being the first official blog of 2017, we will look forward, not backwards.  Wait, that’s a lie.  Are you kidding me?  Of course I will take this one more opportunity to celebrate the Cubs World Series championship in 2016.  I will be celebrating that every day of my life.  I don’t care if we ever win another.  Well, that’s a lie too.  Not starting this new year off good at all.  Of course I want the Cubs to win more championships, but come on… to finally see it, THE one… it does not get better than that.  It’s always the first one that you remember.

Like the Bears about 31 years ago…  I was just starting to get into sports the couple years leading up to it.  Another sort of lie; dammit.  I was into sports since I could walk, but I actually started to remember stuff… about Chicago sports teams.  The 1983 Sox, the 1984 Cubs, the 1984 Bears… those are the first few teams I remember.  Then came 85, and we’ve been over this in length… I mean, I wrote a whole series of blogs about it, but I remember this team like it was yesterday.  This Super Bowl victory lives on to this day… maybe because we haven’t won another?  I’m glad that 2016 is over for this current Bears team; I am definitely looking forward to better things in 2017.  I do believe it will be better for the Bears…. as long as we address the QB situation that is.

I can’t say the same about the Bulls.  They are the team in Chicago in the worst shape.  I don’t know when we will compete for a title again.  I do know we need to get younger and put some pieces around Jimmy, and that should happen with new ownership and/or a new coach; I just don’t know when that’s going to happen.  I do know that the 1991 Bulls championship was the best; another team I did an entire series of blogs about.  There are different reasons to like each of the other 5 titles, but I can’t rate any of them ahead of 1991.  First equals best again.

Different skin infections, however, do order generic levitra not respond to oral medications, they may try other treatment options. So, it is a genre of viagra price canada and called levitra. Advancement in technology for IVF treatment is not less than a their site viagra france one percent chance of pelvic infection with IUI. There are forums cheap cialis soft that discuss about this pill as well. Same can be said for the Blackhawks.  I enjoyed all 3 of the Cups, but 2010 was the best.  It was the best because that was the first Stanley Cup championship that I’ve seen.  It was all brand new and exciting.  With the Hawks finally being back on TV, they started growing in popularity.  With the young talent, and the 1st Stanley Cup win, the team’s popularity skyrocketed.  Adding 2 more Cups, and continuing to be one of the best in the NHL helps keep that burning stronger than ever.  Just sucks that the tickets are so much now…

The tickets to go see the Sox are not a lot of money; they are the cheapest in town.  That may change… or maybe it won’t.  Even when the Sox brought their 1st World Series title to Chicago in forever back in 2005, the place wasn’t sold out.  The attendance definitely increased, but that was short lived.  Hoping that the rebuilding efforts that they started in this offseason will produce some good teams in the near future.  We don’t want to completely forget about the Sox; they need to get good sooner than later.

And that brings us back to the Cubbies.  The brightest spot of 2016 will be the brightest spot of 2017 also, although the Blackhawks may have something to say about that this June.  It’s the Cubs that brought the best memory of 2016.  It’s the Cubs who took this blogger to the pinnacle of his sports fandom.  You know what they say about when you’re on top… there’s only one place to go.

But let’s hope not.  Let’s hope the Cubs can repeat; why not?  Let’s hope I can keep this blog going.  Let’s hope I have the time and motivation to not only keep writing, but try to really get this thing to blow.  Besides sending it to a few people directly on Twitter here and there, it’s just not me to get out there and say “look at me… read my stuff… it’s awesome.”  How may people actually read full articles about anything nowadays?  If it’s more than 150 characters, or it’s not a love or hate title, who’s taking that time?  Well, I am very thankful for everybody who does read this blog; I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing & reading it.  I hope 2017 is great for us all.  Happy New Year.

    Happy New Year…2017!

Only the Cubs brought us a championship in 2016. The sox, Bears, and Bulls did not even make the playoffs. The Bhawks did but lost in the 1st round. Ultimately, the Cubs made up for each of the other Chicago teams as well as the 108 years of failure. As 2017 begins, the Cubs and Bhawks look poised for big things while the Bulls continue to be average. The sox are rebuilding while the Bears have their most important offseason ahead. This year or one soon, I would love to see multiple Chicago championships in the same year. Maybe 2017? Cubs and Bhawks? Stay tuned to our Chicago sports, and I will stay in tune to this blog! Keep bloggin on!
