February 9, 2025: Satisfying Blowout

posted in: Bears | 0

There are some days when the majority of the NFL watching world gets what they want; to have this happen on the biggest stage is a bit shocking, but… when considering all the futures on the Chiefs and everyone believing that the NFL would not let them lose… that the NFL would do whatever they could to crown the first 3-peat Super Bowl champions, I guess I understand it now. Some people may have turned the game off when it got out of hand, but me… I enjoyed every bit of this satisfying blowout.

Who else outside of Kansas City likes the Chiefs? I guess I’m stupid. Lots of people like them, because people like to support winning teams; in other words, there are a ton of bandwagon riders, something foreign to me. In fact, I’m the complete opposite. Once a team wins too much for my liking, I turn to hating on them; the Chiefs were firmly in that category. There’s the whole “appreciate greatness” crowd too; Reid and Mahomes are great, there’s no doubt. And then you have the people who have won a lot of cash on them; how can you bet against the Chiefs in the big game. Would you believe I was almost there too?!?! Yes, I hate the Chiefs, and wanted them to lose, but… I almost bet on them! In fact, at halftime, when I would have got 16.5 points… I was right there… just about to pull the trigger on them. No way this game will remain a blowout; it will be close… is what I kept saying. I resisted… thankfully. Sure, the Chiefs did cover some 2nd half lines, but the game and the half, the two biggies, were both huge Ls for Chiefs’ backers… and huge wins for Vegas and probably most sportsbooks. I’m so glad I stayed away…

Am I mad I didn’t bet on the Eagles? Not really. It reminded me too much of last year, when I took a bath on the Niners. It was another revenge spot. It was another spot where I thought the Chiefs’ opponent was the better team. It didn’t work out the first time, so I passed; of course it would have worked out this time… haha. Anyways, I just played a handful of props; funny enough, I didn’t win any of them. The only ones “I” did win, were ones picked by my wife and son. My wife wanted “over 2.5 sacks” for the Eagles; that hit… we celebrated. The biggest celebration came on my son’s longshot prop: Cooper Dejean over 0.5 INTs. +700! Haha… thankfully those 2 hits made it a profitable Super Bowl… just slightly… but a whole lot better than last year’s outcome.

Take away the wagering, I was just happy to see the Chiefs, and specifically Mahomes, get their heads bashed in. I was definitely surprised this treatment continued throughout the entire game, and certainly am not a big Eagles fan or anything like that, but I wasn’t mad at it. Chalk up another Super Bowl and another NFL season. Now, we can start talking about the Bears again… will it finally be a worthwhile season? Welcome to the offseason.
