The NBA trade deadline is the most exciting of its kind in sports? I think so. The baseball deadline usually brings about some change; the football and hockey not so much. But basketball… it’s full of names in new places; this year has been no exception. Luka to LA. The Bulls involved with Zach to Sac. Now Jimmy, ex-Bull, the guy we traded to get Zach in the first place, is on the move to Golden State. We still have some time for more news; try to keep up.
Luka isn’t playing yet, although he is on the Lakers’ bench, hamming it up; I’m sure he’ll be fine. Speaking of the Lakers, they made another move sending Dalton Knecht out of town for Mark Williams from the Hornets; I guess the Lakers couldn’t keep another rookie on their team that made Bronny look bad… although that would be every single rookie, and for that matter, player in the league; I don’t care that he made his first three pointer. We won’t see the new look Lakers until another week or so; will there be another move made?
Zach Lavine made his debut in Sacramento; it didn’t go that great. I could have told you that. You think pairing Lavine with DeRozan, a few years later than we had them, is going to go well? You must not have watched the Bulls that closely during that time. They both require the ball; one will be standing around looking at the other one shoot when they do. They never really had great chemistry IMO, and now they’re a few years older… Good luck to the Kings. Might as well trade Vooch to them for Sabonis; that would be cool. Speaking of Vooch… will he be going anywhere? I was disappointed to see him on the court on Wednesday night in Minnesota; thought they’d keep him on ice until a deal went through. I just hope we’re not trading Stacey or Adam…
Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy… what happened to you man? When did you become such a diva? From what I can tell, it was ever since Thibs left. From that moment on, even though they were reunited for a quick stint in Minnesota, Jimmy has become too big for his bridges. Sure, he lead the Heat that year to the Finals; certainly still looked on top of his game. But now? Is he still that good to be acting like this? Trading him to the Warriors makes a whole lot of sense, since it feels like they’re the “over the hill” team. Hey, I know Curry still has some in the tank, but Draymond? Klay was already sent packing. And now Jimmy joins them? Well, I guess playing with Curry and being coached by Kerr, Jimmy has a chance to get back in line, and act like an adult. I really don’t care either way though.
As for the new look Bulls, they played about the same as the old look Bulls, losing to the Timberwolves. The fact remains, with or without Zach, the team doesn’t play defense. I know Edwards is an elite talent, but… 49 points? The Bulls actually battled back in the game after sleepwalking through the start; they had the lead for a minute. Well, just like the first matchup vs the Wolves, Minnesota came storming back and defeated us; they are a better team point blank.
OK, that’s it for now… until the next trade goes down. Talk soon.
