February 4, 2019: An Official End

The end of the Super Bowl bring an official end to the football season, although does football season ever really end?  For me, it officially begins the countdown to when the Bears will officially return, and begin their Super Bowl march.  Yes, it started a few weeks ago for us, but now that the season is over, it feels more official. 

What a shitty Super Bowl.  I mean, I didn’t really watch it… and nothing to do with the score or anything, but… those were the 2 best teams in the NFL this year?  Really?  I tried to watch the game… I tuned in for the beginning, but after listening to Tony and Jim talk about how it was shocking that the Rams kicked it, and how Brady marched the Pats right down for a score the last couple opening drives, and how the game is pretty much over after that, and how this opening drive is already impressive after the first 2 plays, which lead me to start yelling at the TV, which lead my son to look at me and ask me to change the TV… I decided it was better that I didn’t watch it.  The game was on in the background, but we played some basketball, played some cards, had some food, and got him ready for bed.  We did watch halftime.  I know everybody is trashing it, but it was OK; not a huge fan or anything like that, but Maroon 5 has some solid hits.  Not sure who the first “rapper” that came on stage was after being shot down like a meteor, but the half of Outkast that showed up was solid.  Saw some people complaining about that dude taking his shirt off… really?  Whatever. 

Anyways, after that didn’t check back in until the 4th quarter, where I saw the only TD of the game.  Then we turned it off and watched a couple episodes of Shameless.  Didn’t know who won until later that evening; didn’t really care to be honest with you.  Does that make me less of a football fan?  Oh well, so be it, because if we’re going to be accurate, I’m a Bears fan first, and since we weren’t playing, it wasn’t stop my life time to watch the game.  But yes, seeing the result, I couldn’t help think that the Bears could have represented better.  Come on, if the Rams defense held them to 13 points, AND the high powered Rams offense could only muster up 3 points against this average at best defense?  Jesus Christ.  I’m sure the Saints and Chiefs both feel the same way as well.

OK, let’s close the book on the season, and hope, hope that this is the last time in our lifetime we’ll have to watch a Patriots team play in the Super Bowl… seriously.  It’s sort of fitting, for the best cheating franchise in the NFL to have a PED user who was suspended earlier in the year win the MVP award; what a joke.  But yes, the Pats continue to win; bravo and suck it both at the same time.  And Brady?  Greatest QB ever?  Sure, but don’t come with the MJ comparisons… man, people know what is going to get those clicks.  Hope the parade goes well, and by that I mean, let Brady trip off the bus and break his right hand, and Belicheat makes a surprise retirement announcement.  Until next year…
