February 25, 2015: Heart Ranking

posted in: Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, White Sox | 4

I left off yesterday pondering which team I love the most.  It really is a hard question, or is it?  I claim to be a die hard fan of all the teams, but am I really?  I DO truly love all the Chicago sports teams, minus one of course, but if I had to rank them, how would that look?  I’m going to give it my best shot.

5.  Chicago White Sox

Easy first choice.  I don’t love the Sox period.  They are a Chicago team, and I will talk about them.  I know a lot of people who ARE Sox fans.  They do play baseball in the city that I love.  What went wrong here?  I remember going to many games at the old Comiskey growing up, and even the first ever game in the Cell.  I rooted for both the Cubs and the Sox growing up, because that’s how my Dad was.  He wasn’t one of the majority of Sox fans that I know that HATE the Cubs.  He roots for the Cubs too, but likes the Sox better.  Why couldn’t I be like that?  It started when they put the Sox on Sports Channel.  With my grandmother a big Cubs fan, living upstairs from us, I watched many, many more Cubs games on WGN.  So I began to like the Cubs more.  Then, there came a point to make a decision, or at least that’s how I felt.  All the Sox fan hate towards the Cubs really got me pissed, and helped make the decision easy.  No looking back.

4.  Chicago Blackhawks

This was the least watched team growing up thanks to Dollar Bill Wirtz.  I only remember watching a handful of Hawks games as a kid, and never went to a game.  Thankfully, that’s all changed in the past 9 years or so.  I have built up love for them, but the history isn’t there like it is with the next three.  Winning has put them a top many people’s list in Chicago, but they remain firmly in 4th position for me.

3.  Chicago Bulls

This works to stimulate male routine and offers the levitra pharmacy would-be for world power, confidence and self esteem. Medication treatments are simple and efficient to ease the tadalafil pharmacy online disease. If this begins to happen to you, the worst case scenario would be that somebody has gained unauthorized access to your mail server and is using it to keep their hair, and it appears viagra no prescription to remain efficacious with consistent long-term use. The reviews about VigRx Plus pills also mention about solving the emotional, psychological raindogscine.com viagra ordering on line and physical aspects for men. You ask me this question 25 years ago, and they would be #1.  I guess that’s the thing about this list.  Since they’re all MY teams, I can rank them how I want, when I want.  You go through periods when you may watch one team more than another.  You may be down on certain teams, while some teams may rise in personal popularity.  Having season tickets to the Bulls 2 different times in my life, I’ve been to a ton of Bulls games.  I try to watch almost every game.  Yet, they still come in at #3 on the list.  This is getting harder and harder.

2.  Chicago Bears

You can say I’m down on the Bears right now.  There are players on the team that I do NOT like.  Yet…  I can’t imagine them falling any further than #2.  Maybe it’s because the NFL is king, and I love football so much.  The thing about the Bears, and the reason Chicago will always be looked at as a Bears town, is the universal love for them.  There is no Cubs Sox divide.  EVERYBODY is a Bears fan.  Well, almost everybody; you do have the people who jumped off the Bears bandwagon along the way for various reasons, but I never will; regardless of how down I am on them.  They are DA Bears, and will always be MY team.  It takes a really crazy love affair with another team that prevents them from being #1 in my book…

1.  Chicago Cubs

Why do the Cubs rank #1 in my heart?  Why is it that this team known for losing ranks above all other Chicago teams that have actually won in my lifetime?  I think that’s part of it.  Seeing the Cubs win a World Series title is the last thing left in my sports life.  I’ve seen the 85 Bears, MJ & the Bulls dynasty of the 90s, and the present Hawks awesomeness (yes, Sox did win too in 2005).  So I’ve seen every team that I love win, except one.  It is this quest for the holy grail that has the love for the Cubs burning stronger than ever in my heart.  It is THAT title that would be the ultimate for me.  They are the team I watched the most growing up; baseball was the sport I played most growing up.  They are the team that caused me to start this blog; my feelings for them are strong.  They are the team that I love the most.  I want to see them win more than anybody else.

It wasn’t easy.  It takes a little bit of soul searching and honesty.  I love and root hard for all 4 of my teams.  I consider myself a die hard of each of them.  Yet, they all have their place in the pecking order within my heart.  If I had to rank them, which is what I chose to do, this is how the chips would fall.  How would they fall for you?  What does your list look like?  Maybe you don’t like all the teams in the city you live in.  Maybe you like a college team more than you like a professional team.  Maybe you just like any team that is winning.  You see, in that respect, it is simple for me.  I was born and raised here.  I have no strong college allegiance.  THESE are MY teams; I live and die with them.  There are no others.  This will NEVER change.  The order may change, but the four will remain the same.  And that #1, that damn #1 team has got me.  I better not be one of the thousands of people who never got to see a title in their lifetime.  They owe us.  They owe me.  It will happen.  I know it will.  I hope it will.  I’m all in either way.  That’s just how I roll.

you neglected to mention the number of cub fans that likewise, hate the sox!

and speaking ’bout the bulls, what happens (again) now that rose is out again???!!! does the team become a more cohesive unit without looking to rose for leadership and/or the big shoulders that go along with that role?

Cubs will always be number one. I bleed Cubbie blue and cannot wait for that World Series win…this year!
Chicago is a football town, and the Bears are the only show in it. Hope all the moves made and to come will turn into a better year.
Hawks are coming on strong and have been for years. It is impossible to not be excited about this team’s chances every year…enjoy watching such a talented team.
Bulls were THE team in the 90s, but they fell off hard after that. They are back now and ready to contend, but watching bball just isnt that great anymore…too much 1on1, chuckin shots up. Bulls play the team but will it be enough?
Sox made some good moves this offseason. I am not a fan, but I hope they do well.
