This used to be a thing at my job, when there were more of us in the office. No Filter Friday… yeah, we’d stand around and talk about stuff, letting it all hang out, not worrying about the repercussions of our conversation; that was fun. In today’s world, you have to use that filter a lot… especially when writing; you know, there are those people out there who will pull up dirt on you if/when they need to. Can’t erase something you write down with your words. I’m not worried about that, mostly because I have nothing to worry about; I understand, most of the time, what should and should not be said. If I “slip”, it’s in person with someone, definitely not in an email, text msg, etc… OK, maybe there are some text messages with some of my long time friends… haha. Anyways, what does all that matter today? Well, maybe it’s time for a little brutal honesty for my teams. OK, let’s go.
We’ll start with the Bears. To Fields or not to Fields has been the hot topic. Here’s what I’m thinking: no matter what the Bears will do, it will be wrong. Trade Fields, and he ends up an All Pro. Keep Fields, and he sucks. Draft Caleb, and he’s a bust. Don’t draft him, and he’s a multiple Super Bowl winning QB. I feel like when it comes to the Bears and QBs, we’re in a no-win situation. I’ll feel like that until they prove me wrong.
How about the Cubs? So much for having all that money to spend and grabbing a really good manager to preface some monster signings. So what? We’re just going to middle/muddle along again, hoping to sneak in to the extended/watered down playoff picture? We were supposed to be giving our best shot every year. Last year was a joke, and now this year??? It hasn’t started yet, but I don’t see the needle being moved much… BS!
Talk about BS… how’s my friends the White Sox doing? Your window opened and closed in a matter of years without winning jack shit; ouch! And now the once face of your franchise is signing with the Marlins, and your billion dollar rich owner is asking for a billion plus dollars from tax payers to build a new stadium that nobody will come to anyways because your team sucks. I thought I had it bad as a Cub fan…
The Bulls… don’t even get me started. If there was ever a need to take off the filter and chuck it into the lake… they’re not doing shit, still! Zeroing in on the play in game year after year is not progress. Neglecting to try to salvage anything from what we got via the trade deadline, or add something of value to the roster is malpractice. And don’t give me the Lonzo Ball and now Zach Lavine injuries… enough already. If AKME doesn’t do something, get somebody in here that will.
As far as the Blackhawks go, well… you got the golden boy at #1, and you fill the rest of the roster with nada? That’s a great strategy to keep Bedard for the rest of his career. Between the last 2 GMs, you dump Teuvo, Bread Man, Brinsky Cat, and oh yeah, Kane, in the recent years, all because you want to start over with your guys? Well, as far as I can tell you got 1 guy… we’re waiting.
OK, I feel better now. That’s usually how No Filter Friday used to work. You bitch about some stuff, get it off your chest, and move on. Moving on…
