Who knew I would have lasted this long… Yeah, when I first opened up my Draft Kings account, I joked that I’d be done pretty quick. Once I burned through the bonus bets, to have all this gambling right at my finger tips, with my degenerate nature, it would be over just as it started. Thankfully, I was wrong about this. A little more than 5 weeks later, I made it through the NFL playoffs, to the NBA All Star Break, and sit on the brink of March Madness with a little something something in my account. Yeah, I already took out the original $100 “investment” and am now playing with house money. I reached the high point over $400 up this week; I was ready to start upping the amount I bet on each game. I’m lucky I didn’t. Yeah, Thursday brought the first rough day since I’ve been back gambling on sports.
Amazingly, it’s taken this long to have a bad day; luckily, this “bad day” was only a $75 hit… yeah, peanuts really right, especially when I think of what my rough day used to be… Although it WAS almost 20% of my bankroll gone in a matter of hours. I’ve always been able to recover, meaning, I’ll take some losses on the chin, but then I’ll have some wins to even it out. More times than not, I’d finish a little up on the day; some days a little down, but not like Thursday night. None of my big plays came in; that sucks. That’s the scary thing of it all. The games I feel the most confident about, don’t hit; the games I feel pretty decent about, hit. That’s where the discipline comes in, trying to wager even amounts across the board, but when you couple that with “in-game” bets, it adds up… and if you keep chasing your “right pick”, and you have a couple of those in one evening, yeah… not so good.
I was all about the West Coast basketball. UCLA has been my team, but I chose to go against them in Utah; they ended up pushing and I ended up hitting a halftime bet on the Utes… this wasn’t my problem. Colorado, Stanford, and the Golden State Warriors… THEY were my problem. After losing an in game bet on the Magic and watching OKC totally blow the game in Utah, I had a rough start; taking Rutgers for a small play based on a tip from my bro, added to it. A San Francisco in game bet… yeah, the Dons… fell short too. It started bad, and it didn’t get better. This is the first day since I opened my account where this has happened; time to get it back.
But… let’s not try to get it back in one shot; we need to get back to the grindstone. Make a little back each day, and hopefully within a week, have it recovered. Sure, hitting on a boosted parlay or a SGP (same game parlay) that is insured with a bonus bet would help, but… March Madness is just on the horizon. If I made it this far, I’m certainly not going to miss THAT! OK, let me get back to reading about the games…
