February 22, 2016: Sox Talk

posted in: White Sox | 2

Ok, take note of this day Sox fans. As a gift to my sister on her birthday, I’ll be talking exclusively about the White Sox season ahead.

I’d have to check the archives…I’m sure I’ve done this before.  It must be a slow day in Chicago sports, or maybe it’s the beginning of spring training. It’s time to predict their record.

Last year, I projected the Sox to have more wins than the other Chicago baseball team. It just shows you how unbiased I was being, and also how wrong. Where will the projections fall this year?

The USA Today prediction of 90 wins and an AL Central title was pretty shocking to say the least. The guy a little better at predicting win totals, Papa Vegas, has their over under win total at 80.5. I’m thinking somewhere in between.

Let’s go out on a limb and say 82-80.  Why so low?  Why so high?  Just right?  Sox fans let me hear you.
As a result, you buy viagra in australia can gain enhanced sex drive and stamina. They will surely help you overcome stress very soon. professional cialis is said to be an amazing medicine which is used for treating erectile dysfunction. viagra is considered to be a permanent method, which helps in reversing not always possibly successful. Good adult onset diabetes proper care coupled with administration discount viagra sale will often lag or prevent that start of those complications.
I like their pitching. Sale can be relied on to be their number one, one of the top pitchers in the league when healthy.  I worry a little about his herky jerky motion causing arm problems; he hasn’t been the healthiest over the years, but is 100% so going into the year. If he’s healthy, I’m predicting 18-20 wins. Quintana is solid.  Rodon may be really good, although I’ve already heard of innings monitoring; there’s a lot of that going on, and we haven’t even played one game. I like the Latos signing.  If they can get production from their 5 starter…anybody not named John Danks, it could be a very good year on the south side. Even Danks throws in that gem every once in a while. With Robertson at the back of the pen, middle relief becomes key.

The pitching was not the problem last year.  It was the blown saves the year before, but last year, it was the bats. They’ve added a few. The 2 headed catching monster that is Navarro and Avila have to be better than Flowers, even if they’re not as good framing pitches. Good trade off?  Abreu will be fine, and then there’s Toddfather. Like him a lot; don’t like his 2nd half numbers last year. Will the real Todd Frazier please stand up?  Lawrie has resided on my fantasy roster in the past; again, can’t be much worse than who he was replacing. Eaton, Garcia, and Melky don’t look like a bad outfield trio on paper. Now Jimmy Rollins is in camp…you can always count on the White Sox trying to recreate a little magic out of a star past his prime.   LaRoche can’t have a worse year…  Question is, will they hit enough?

The AL Central won’t be doing them any favors. With the defending champs, an improved Tigers team, the pesky Twins, and the always on the verge Indians, it will be tough.

That 500 record definitely looks achievable.  82-80 would be a six game improvement from last year. Good enough for the playoffs?  Probably not, but if Ventura could coach a few more wins out of them….  Ok, it was fun, but now back to another topic.  One that’s a little closer to my heart…  Good luck Sox.

like i said in an earlier response, send danks to the pen for middle relief. and i’ve always liked quintana, but they need to give him some early support so he can relax and pitch with the lead. laroche should be lagone. didn’t care for him and his big contract last year, and don’t suppose him to be better this year. guess i’ll coast along with your prediction numbers there.

Think sale gets hurt for the year at some point and throws the sox hopes down the drain.
