The Winter Olympics are over; that was quick. How much of the Winter Olympics did you watch this time around? I hardly watched any of it, shockingly. I usually love the Olympics…I DO love the Olympics. Not sure why I wasn’t into it this time around.
Maybe it was the whole time difference thing, that many folks said… although that usually doesn’t bother me. I don’t mind watching stuff first thing in the morning, or late at night, if that’s what I have to do to watch stuff live. I do enjoy watching the live stuff better than stuff that has already occurred; that goes for all sports, unless of course, we’re talking about classic games from the past; I’ll always have a place in my heart for those. But yeah, I guess the early and late parts of the day had other stuff going on this time around.
The late part of my days have been spent on watching 2 shows. I’ve never seen The Wire… right now, almost halfway done with the 6 season show. It’s been really good. Season 1 was awesome; season 2 was not as awesome, but still good. Season 3 ramped back up. Ready for Season 4 now. As long as my wife is staying up, we’ve been watching. If she goes to sleep, no fear; I’ve been rewatching the Sopranos. After watching Breaking Bad, I questioned the Sopranos #1 ranking in my books… I’m answering that question. Just a great, great show. I like the one where Tony is hallucinating, and thinks he took some hot foreign exchange student staying with his neighbor out to lunch. Carmela finds out and snaps on him… Then when AJ is busted smoking weed during his confirmation party… what kind of animal gets high on his confirmation day? Haha… Anyways, the evenings have been pretty tied up.

The Olympics are on in the background… we did watch some. Just never really zoned in like I have in the past. Last I checked Norway was running away with the medal count, including gold medals; good for them. US was top 5, maybe top 3 I believe. With half the country not experiencing much winter, I imagine the talent pool is smaller than the one that is available for the Summer Olympics. Still, I don’t mind seeing other countries win; kind of sucked that Canada beat the US in Women’s Hockey, but not heartbroken by any means. Up next, Summer Olympics…in 2 years, right?
Well, congrats to all the winter winners. Although it was one of the least watched Olympic games, that certainly doesn’t take away from all that you have accomplished; I’m sure you could care less who watched and didn’t. Nobody spent years and years like you preparing for this day. That’s the coolest part about it… the thousands of hours these competitors practice for this… lot of pressure to perform after all that time invested. Just the fact that you made the Olympic team is a huge accomplishment. If you medal… if it’s gold… bravo. Back to Chicago sports… almost.
