February 2, 2022: Different Story

Typically, a home game against the worst team in the conference would barely effect our heartbeat. It feels like the Magic haven’t been relevant since the Shaq and Penny days. That’s not correct of course. They did make the NBA Finals more recently than the Bulls by the way, back in 2009. Sure, the Lakers kicked their asses, but at least they got there. It’s been 24 years since the Bulls have participated in the last series of the NBA season. Will that change this year? The more immediate question we needed to answer on Tuesday night at the UC, was would the Bulls bounce back against this cellar dweller after getting our asses handed to us in Orlando about a week ago. The answer was YES.

It was a different story this time around against the Magic, although they put up a really great fight. They’re a good young team; it’s surprising that they’ve only won 11 games all year honestly. Maybe they only get up for certain games… kind of like Wendell Carter Jr does against us. As Stacey mentioned, if WCJ got up for every other game like he does against the Bulls, the Magic would have a much better record. It’s an interesting thing… what makes people tick… what gets them going. This is why that 70 win mark has only been hit twice ever. Getting up for every single game in an 82 game season… Of course the Bulls did it back in the day; the Warriors too, although we know how that went… don’t mean a thing without the ring. Speaking of regular season wins… the Bulls have already surpassed last year’s total. There are still 32 games left to play. Talk about making a jump… bravo boys.

But yeah, this game had an eerily familiar feeling as the Magic made a 4th quarter push, tying the game after being down 11 points. The WCJ shot with 5:34 left in the 4th tied the game; that would be the last points scored by the Magic on this evening. Yep, the Bulls would close on an 11-0 win to get the victory. While DD and Zach poured in 29 and 26 respectively, it was another guy making big shots down the stretch. AYOOOOOO!!! Love that kid.

The Bulls sit atop the Eastern Conference by a game over both the Heat and the Sixers. The Cavs and the Bucks both sit 1.5 games out. Did you happen to see that Bucks game last night? The hard foul on Giannis? Hmmm… You can dish it, but can you take it Milwaukee??? Anyways, the road ahead for the Bulls is not easy, especially without Ball, Caruso, Carter Jr, and of course, Williams. At Toronto and Indiana, home against the Sixers and Suns… sure would be nice to be full strength, but… all teams deal with injuries… nobody is going to feel sorry for us. The #1 seed will certainly be tested. Would 2-2 in this 4 game stretch be OK? Go Bulls!!!
