February 18, 2021: Losing Wentz

So, after weeks of rumors, “sure things”, projected hauls, bidding wars, and everything else all the “sources” reported, Carson Wentz is going to the Colts. I’m not heartbroken.

He’s better than what we got though… He would have certainly been an upgrade over our current starting QB under contract Nick Foles, but don’t tell Philly fans that. He would be better than Mitch, que no? Yeah, I think so. Is he the guy that will be THE GUY? Probably not. So, we’re back to square one, or however you define QB limbo. If we have to go into the season with Nick Foles at starting QB, I think I’m going to jump out a window…

It’s early though. Shit, we’re still in the month that the Super Bowl was played. Morale of the story: we have time. There’s still everyone’s pipe dream Deshaun Watson. Another good option is Carr from the Raiders, although that certainly doesn’t seem like there’s a snowball’s chance in hell that happens. So where does that leave us? Sam Darnold? Well, like Wentz, he would certainly be better than what we currently have. Like Wentz though, he wasn’t that great where he was. So he’s going to be that much better here? A change in scenery that sends a QB to a team that hasn’t had a franchise QB in eons will be good? I just don’t know about that.

Yes, the search for a franchise QB continues here in Chicago. A big swing and a miss at our last real chance to land one in the draft didn’t help. Although… since Pace has been better in his later round picks, why not snag a QB there? Why not snag a QB there EVER in his time with us? That’s just maddening. Pick your ass up after shitting the bed; take another shot. Take multiple shots… increase your odds at getting one. Don’t just ride that ship until it sinks. Change routes, be open and accepting of the fact that you were wrong; you F’d up. Luckily for you, you still have a job; now do something about it. Redeem yourself man.

Maybe there isn’t one right answer, meaning, just don’t sign one, or trade for one, or draft one; do more. Sign one and draft one; trade for one and draft one. Throw the combo at it… bam, bam… 1-2… 3? Whatever it takes, and if we can ship Foles and his guaranteed $ out of town, even better. So however this QB search goes, I want to see 2 new names on the QB depth chart: a new starting QB, a rookie QB, and whoever else, most likely Foles, because nobody would be dumb enough to trade for him and his contract right? Nobody would think that getting him and paying him big money to be an insurance policy is a good idea, right??? Whatever…

Losing Wentz? No big deal. Getting a new starting QB? Big deal. Getting multiple QBs through multiple channels in an effort to finally land a franchise QB? Bingo! I’m sure you’re already working on it Ryan, but just in case you needed some guidance… I’m here for you. Bear Down!
