Or standing pat if you prefer, except I used that title last year. And unlike last year, I was not happy with the Bulls doing absolutely nothing at the NBA trade deadline.
Ok, yeah, they did do something: sent Kirk Hinrich packing. This was another popular move with the fans. Let’s trade one of our favorite all-time Bulls. We already sent the coach of the year packing, and benched the player with the most energy. They’re really on a roll. I know, I know…Kirk wasn’t all that any more, but he was tough, hard nosed, and still brought the energy; yeah, I guess that just doesn’t fit it any more.
Meanwhile, instead of moving Gasol who is about to hit free agency, we keep him. There is no guarantee he will sign with us. Do we really want to sign him for some more years at primo cash? Even if both sides wanted to, they still could have if we traded him. Then we’d have him back if that’s what we really wanted, plus a couple better players. What would have been wrong with that?
Oh yeah, that’s right, we’re still going to make a run this year, as we showed on the court Thursday night in Cleveland. This season has been a fricking train wreck. Between the front office moves, the new coaching philosophy, and the injuries, it just keeps getting better. What’s next? Trade Benny the Bull?

I’ll tell you what I’d be doing if I was John Paxson… I’d start to separate myself from Gar Forman. Maybe, just maybe, he could play the ex-player card and save his job. Maybe he can play the highlights of all those jumpers in game 5 vs the Lakers. Maybe he can play the shot from game 6 in Phoenix over and over. Let Gar take the fall, or is it really you that is engineering this train wreck? I’m trying to give you some benefit of the doubt here Pax.
So Gar sits up there, talks about hopefully making the playoffs this year, about resigning Pau and Jo next year. You bring in your boy for 5/25, and now want to keep players that he doesn’t want to play? You are an idiot!
As much as I don’t want it, as much as I can’t let it go, the Thibs Bulls are done. That means Jo is done. Maybe that’s why they keep Pau; he was never one of Thibs’ guys. He couldn’t play defense worth a lick so Thibs played Taj over him late in games. Maybe Pau was one of the co-signers on the Thibs exit. Maybe that’s why I’d like to see him exit. At least we could have got some guys for him. Now he might just walk. How smart are we?

Bulls making no moves mean they think they have a chance with what they have this year, and honestly, I think they are right. The east is wide open. The Bulls own the raps right now, and if they get healthy and accept their coach and roles, the Bulls could give the cavs a run for the east title. Maybe I am being more optimistic tonight for some reason, but who knows. This year is looking like sas or gsw anyway, but maybe the Bulls can make a run in the east. Then again, maybe they have nothing doing upstairs!
