We all remember how this season started; maybe we’d like to forget. Under Colliton (remember him?), the Hawks started off 1-9-2; absolutely f-ing brutal. Nobody saw that coming. Did you know he was coaching the Canada Olympic team? He’s had the time since the Blackhawks showed him the door after that wonderful start to the season; would phase one of the season sink us? Enter in Derek King; who? Yeah, the Blackhawks capitalized on that change, rounded up some mojo, and won 4 straight games. Then it was the one up one down streak of 13 consecutive games one way or the other, until the next losing streak, followed by a winning streak. Overall, phase 2 of the season was respectable. The 14-9-3 stretch of the season provided a bit of hope… that was short lived. Well, first and foremost, the guys will be headed home to watch the playoffs like the rest of us after the next 32 games. Although more than halfway over, 32 games is still a lot of hockey left to play… No, I’m not going to do it; I’m not going to allow myself to think a miraculous turnaround in the final phases of this regular season is possible. The Blackhawks are dead in the water, frozen water… on the ice. With the new GM and possibly coach coming for next year, it will be interesting to find out the answer to that question; where will the Hawks go from here? I’m going to try to keep watching though… Go Hawks…
