February 14, 2019: Starting Anew

The Blackhawks kicked off a new streak on Thursday night against the Devils at the UC with a 5-2 win.  Yes, after going down 2-0, the Hawks reeled off 5 unanswered goals for the victory.  Only 19 more to go…

Remember, after the Bruins loss, in order to get to 95 points, which may be the magic number to get into the playoffs, the Blackhawks had to go 20-5.  After this win, 19-5.  Yeah, I think I’ll track this from here on out.  It’ll be fun… I think.  It will be more fun if they actually pull it off and get into the playoffs.  They’re still not 500; they’ll try to reach that milestone on Saturday night at the UC vs the Blue Jackets.

Yes, the return of the Bread Man.  Many people have ripped the Saad Panarin deal; I wasn’t one of them.  I really like the Saad Father.  Nothing against the Bread Man…  I thought it was a fair deal at the time.  Can we at least settle for 2 of the best nicknames ever?  Ideally, we would have both of them; that still may happen.  Although the results definitely are with Artemi, unless you count posts hit, Saad is putting together a way better year this year than last.  I thought he’d be that next guy right after Toews and Kane to lead this team.  It hasn’t worked out that way thus far.  That’s not saying it can’t be that way in the long run.  That’s not saying that it HAS to be that way for Saad to be successful here.  With the entire 2nd line playing great, it’s OK for him to lead the next best line for us.  We’d take that in a heartbeat.  Panarin has proved he can play without Kane, although I would love to see that combo back on the ice for the Hawks, I’m just not sure that’ll happen.  Defense is still our biggest need, yes?  When is the trade deadline by the way?

With the Hawks starting anew with another long winning streak, it’s time to do whatever we can to give this club a boost that will carry us to and through the postseason.  I think that means bringing Henri back up to help the defense; now is as good a time as any.  He’s definitely one of the best six D men we have; why are we waiting?  I don’t know…  maybe there’s a good reason, that I’m just not seeing.  Maybe it’s to rest him… maybe it’s to bring him along slowly… maybe it’s to showcase some of our other guys in hopes of trading them before the deadline.  Whatever it is, we have no time to waste.  Remember, 19 more wins out of the next 24 games is what it’s going to take.

Maybe not… maybe I’m being too aggressive.  Now we’re only 2 points out of the playoffs.  We can almost taste it, and man… I bet that would taste mighty good.  Let’s keep rolling boys.  Go Hawks!

No losing steaks here. The Bhawks can’t afford one. So the dynamic duo made sure to get the Bhawks back on track with a 5-2 win. 19-5 is a tall task, but maybe it won’t have to be that much…17-7? Either way, the Bhawks will need to win more than they lose by far. They dug this hole and now have to try to climb their way out of it and into the playoffs. Saad for panarin seemed like a good deal. Saad underperformed last year but seems to be much better this year. No regrets with that trade. Will a trade be made to help this playoff push? Stay tuned, but keep the winning train going Bhawks! GO HAWKS!!!
