February 13, 2015: Unsatisfied

posted in: Bulls | 2

The Bulls got a big win last night at the UC.  They beat Cleveland for the first time this year.  They won their 4th in a row.  They continued to improve upon an average home record.  They moved into 3rd place in the Eastern Conference going into the All-Star break.  Why is it then, that I’m not happy?  Why is it that the best way I can describe how I felt after that win was unsatisfied?

I sit here and preach all year long about being positive, about enjoying the ride.  Yet, I can’t help myself right now; although it was a nice win, it means crap in the big scheme of things.  With all the pre-game talk by all the TNT dopes, about how this is such a big game…. I’m not buying it.  Yes, it’s always better to win than lose, and I’m glad that they won, but…I still feel empty.

We had Bulls season tickets for the past 4 years.  Normally, we would try to sell the “big” regular season games.  We did attend a few of them, but for the most part, those were the games we tried to get some of our money back on.  This was especially true for the Heat games.  It’s because we got a lot of money back for them, right?  Well, yeah, that was part of the reason, but the bigger reason in my mind… the reason that I tried to explain to my wife why I did NOT want to go see the Bulls play the Heat in the regular season, was because at the end of the day, it didn’t mean crap.  Here was a team I hated…  with a player Lebron James that I absolutely despise… that I didn’t want to just beat in the regular season; no, no… that just wouldn’t do.  Here was a team and player that I hated so much that the only way I wanted to see the Bulls play them was when it really counted.  The only time I wanted to see the Bulls play them was an opportunity to end their season.

We never got that chance against the Heat.  Yes, we did play them in the playoffs, and yes, I did “break down” and go to a couple of those playoff games, one of which made the list of Best Games I Attended.  Although they were fun… although the regular season wins were great too… I was never fully satisfied.  I guess that’s the feeling that remains today.

Watching Lebron play always gets me pissed off.  It gets me in one of those moods when watching the game, that I’m screaming at almost every play.  I’m cheering for every good play, and I’m yelling at the Bulls for every stupid play they make.  I’m texting people during the game on how LBJ personifies the B in his name.  He makes me sick.  You see how he was playing yesterday???  Kind of out of control, running into people, nailing Noah with an elbow, pushing people around.  Then at the end of the game, dribbling like a dope, like he doesn’t really care that they’re down by 20, slamming the ball home in a meaningless dunk late in the game, and standing over by the Bulls bench.  I wanted to kick his ass.  I want to do more than just a regular season win.  Obviously, he doesn’t care about the regular season.

No, I want to rip his heart out.  I want to annihilate him.  Beating him again in the regular season is nice.  Yet, what does it really mean?  We met him with the Cavs the first time around in the playoffs; they knocked us out.  We met them twice with the Heat; 0-2.  So the way I see it, we have NEVER beat a Lebron team.  For all the regular season successes against them, the one thing that I still want, is to win in the playoffs; to end their season… to end HIS season.

So yes, another nice regular season win for the Bulls; this time over a Lebron led Cavs squad.  I’m not celebrating.  I’m not happy.  I’m not satisfied.  I’m going to try and be patient, and wait for my prediction to come true.  I’m going to wait until we meet in the Eastern Conference Finals.  THAT is what I’m looking forward to.  THAT is when I’ll be on 10 for every game.  THAT is when I’ll have to tell my son “earmuffs”.  THAT is when I look to be satisfied.  I root for the Bulls to finally beat Lebron; to get that monkey off their back if you will.  Only then, will I truly be satisfied… not after some regular season victory.  We’ve had plenty of those.  It’s time to beat him when it counts.  Let’s stay healthy boys, and give them the Cavs our best shot when it really counts.  It’s kind of like getting past that Pistons hump back in the day; when we finally DO beat Lebron’s team, it will be more satisfying than anything else.  Everything else after that will be cake.  We’ve paid our dues, now it’s time to cash them in.  The playoffs can’t start soon enough…

4 in a row is a big deal going into All Star weekend. Every game counts. Get ready for the most boring and pointless sports weekend. From the Slam Dunk to 3pt, to “skills” challenge, what a joke. Ahh the good old days..

Good momentum going into the break…always a good thing. Another good thing, kicking queen james’ ass! Yes, only a regular season game, but any win against queen is a good one. Looking forward to knocking him and the cavs out in the playoffs!
As far as all-star weekend, the 3 point contest should be good this year. It actually has the best in the league. Unfortunately, the best players don’t want to participate in the dunk contest…roll out the red carpet queen. What a joke he is! Puts on dunk shows in practice and before games but can’t do it for the fans at the all-star game…afraid of losing queen? Too much pressure? No excuses for him not participating…him or any other stars!

    Stay healthy Pau and Buckets!
