February 11, 2019: Seven and Counting

posted in: Blackhawks | 1

This is fun.  Another game for the Blackhawks on Sunday vs the Red Wings, and another win in the books.  That’s seven and counting for all those keeping track.  I don’t care about the big picture, what happened earlier in the year with Coach Q, the losing streaks, the state of Crow, or anything else Blackhawks related right now.  I just want to live in the vacuum of this winning streak; I don’t want it to end.

A couple of the longest winning streaks in Blackhawks history happened in recent memory.  The record for most wins in a row was 12, which happened from December 29, 2015 to January 19, 2016.  For some reason, I tend to remember the streak of 11 wins in a row which happened in the strike shortened 2012-2013 season.  This particular winning streak happened between February 15, 2013 and March 6, 2013.  Of course, the bigger streak at that time was what ended up to be the 24 games with no losses in regulation streak that the Hawks started that Stanley Cup winning season with.  The point streak… I remember that one fondly.  Of course the NHL record is 17 wins in a row by the 92-93 Pittsburgh Penguins.  We’re almost halfway there.

I think we’re all aware that the Hawks are 4 points out of the playoffs right now, and the same 4 points from the bottom of the conference; what a logjam.  The thing that struck me was that even with this winning streak, the Hawks still aren’t even 500.  They are 23-24-9.  I fear that once this streak is over, the season will be too.  But if the streak never ends…

It was formulated using same ingredients prescription de viagra canada and rendered similar benefits. Realistically, with 26 games to go, the Hawks probably need to win like 20 of them to get into the dance.  That would get the Hawks to 95 points; that was the cutoff to get into the Western Conference playoffs last year.  94 was the cutoff the year before, 87 the year before that (wow), while it was 97 points the last year the Hawks won the Cup.  I certainly think it will take at least 90 points, especially with so many teams this close… with so much importance on each and every game.  So if 95 is the number, can the Hawks go 20-6 from here on out?  Of course, when they end the season on a 33 game winning streak… no sweat.

OK so it’s settled; the Hawks will never lose again.  Delia, Ward, Delia, Ward, Crow… it doesn’t matter who’s in goal.  Toews & Kane will carry us; Strome & Debrincat will continue to play awesome.  Keith and Seabrook will have a flashback end of the season.  Everybody else will step up too.  This team can’t lose!

If you want to talk about anything other than the streak, I don’t want to hear about it.  The streak is EVERYTHING!  The biggest in season turnaround ever.  The longest winning streak ever.  Our 4th Cup!  Haha… OK, let me step back out of my happy/delirious place.  But, but… if we can get to 8 wins in a row Tuesday night in Boston… watch out!  Go Hawks!

7 in a row and still not at .500? Still not in the playoff picture? Yep, that is how far the Bhawks had fallen. So, the 7 wins in a row is great, but there is still work to do. So is 20-6 a reasonable record to close out the year and make the playoffs? Who knows. Let’s enjoy this run that the Bhawks are on right now and hope it lasts. They need to keep racking up the points. Speaking of that, Kane and Toews led the Bhawks vs the wings. The wings cut the lead to 1 and Kane scores to bump it back to a 2 goal lead from a sweet outlet pass by Toews. Then the Capitan clinches it with an empty netter. The dynamic duo has been leading by example their entire careers. They look like they have plenty left in the tank. Let’s hope the Bhawks do, too, so that the playoffs become a reality. GO HAWKS!!!
