February 11, 2016: Not My Forte

posted in: Bears | 2

See I knew we’d be back talking Bears sooner than later.  Needing to write yesterday’s post, I turn to some late breaking news from this morning.  The Bears will NOT resign Matt Forte.  Can’t say I was surprised.

The writing was on the wall I guess.  With the performance of Langford, the flashes shown by Carey, and the “RB’s over 30” argument, Forte’s fate was all but sealed.  I mean, who’s going to miss the Bears 2nd ranked player in franchise history when it comes to yards from scrimmage, rushing yards, and catches… and 3rd ranked in TDs?  What great offense will not miss the NFL league leader… yep, that’s right… the NFL league leader in yards from scrimmage since he’s came into the league?  Certainly not this juggernaut of an offense.  Why would we miss that?

The Bears are stupid, although many will say they did the smart thing here.  Heck, I may even say that later in this post… or my next post, or early next year.  But, first instinct is that they’re idiots.  I loved Matt Forte.  He’s been awesome ever since he’s been here.  My son’s 2nd jersey was Matt Forte.  Being #22 just added to me liking him, but his versatility, his shut up and play attitude, and his do-it-all on the offense while we wait for a supposed franchise QB to earn a dolllar of his pay attitude was awesome.  Actually, I’m happy for him that the Bears will not bring him back.

He’ll get an opportunity to play with a real contender… a real offense…. a real QB.  He won’t have to carry the whole fricking load every game.  He won’t have to worry about getting his touches and TDs vultured by some up and comer, while there is absolutely nothing lacking in his performance.  I hope he goes to a contender, just not the Packers.  The Patriots make the most sense.  Can you imagine Forte in the Pats offense with Brady throwing to him out of the backfield?  Geez, talk about an up, upgrade.  Forte doesn’t have to sit around another year like us, waiting for this Cutler thing to work out.  News flash… it ain’t working out!

I don’t care how easy our schedule is next year, with Cutler at the helm we’re doomed… he already doomed multiple coaches and now one of the franchise’s best RBs.  We wasted Matt’s best years.  He should have played for a winner, after all, he did everything in HIS power to win. But I guess that doesn’t fit into the 2016 Bears.  They basically said he’s not my forte…

OK, I guess I’ll get over it.  Looking back, there are some athletes that you don’t care that much about… they leave, they leave.  They retire, fine.  They get traded, whatever.  Then there are some guys, where it hurts.  It hurts to see them go.  It will hurt to see them wear another team’s uniform.  Matt Forte falls into that 2nd category.  It just pisses me off that we couldn’t do better with him…

We had the great defense, we had Forte, but that wasn’t enough.. it wasn’t enough for a franchise QB that’s supposed to make everybody around him better… not need a custom made pro bowl team to make himself better.  I’m sorry that I keep taking it here… well, not really.. it is how I feel.  Forte deserved better, and hopefully now, he’ll get it.  We won’t forget you Matt..just don’t go to the Pack… Bear Down!

The Bears wasted forte’s best years. Does he have anything left? Sure seems like it. Unfortunately, he is 30. The Bears are going young and will not pay forte what he wants. Thank you #22 for all the great years…sorry the Bears couldnt do more around you. You will be missed, but maybe you can land somewhere with a shot at a title. Meanwhile, who knows if this move will pay off for our Bears. Only time will tell. BEAR DOWN!!!

Dumb move by the Bears. Forte will end up in Dallas and set rushing and receiving records!
