December 9, 2020: Screw Job

OK, let me hear them. Tell me about your screw job. With the completion of the last week of the regular season in fantasy football, I’m sure there are plenty of stories about how you got screwed out of the playoffs. Here’s mine.

In my main league, I lost a chance at 1st overall seed, and fell out of the 2nd seed which also gets a bye at the same time; I’m not even going to bitch about that. I want to talk about my keeper league. Heading into the last week, I was in the 8th seed; I needed to win and needed some help. I took care of the win part; heading into Monday and Tuesday nights’ games, I was relying on the help.

Going through each season, I’m sure there are plenty of times where you should have played this guy, or should have played that guy. There are times when you get screwed in your weekly matchups as well. Yet, when it happens in the playoffs, or happens in the last week of the regular season, you tend to remember it a bit more. This one stung.

Here are some guidelines to follow: Side effects of online Kamagra Jelly old men can reach erections and experience pleasurable lovemaking up to cialis order on line 6 hours. Number one problem is relying on help. It’s never a good thing when you don’t control your own destiny. There were 2 other matchups of interest. If either of the “right” teams would have won, I would have been in the playoffs. The first one seemed out of reach. The guy I needed to win was down by like 30 points heading into Monday night; the only guy playing was Cole Beasley. Yeah, so it got really close. Beasley, along with the rest of the Bills offense, had a monster night. Late in the 4th quarter, I needed one more 10 yard completion to Beasley to get the help I needed. I’m watching where he lines up every play; I’m watching where the QB is looking after he hikes it. I’m yelling at the TV… throw him the ball!!! That last Buffalo 3rd down as Allen scrambles, he fires it down field to none other than Beasley… incomplete, and poof, there went my help. But that was the long shot; the other one wasn’t that good either.

I got some unexpected help in the first game on Monday night in that matchup when Gibson went out early. With the guy I needed to win having that Pittsburgh WR Johnson, and him having a big game, the possibility became better. Up 20 points heading into Tuesday night’s matchup, with Zeke on the roster, facing Lamar, there was a chance. I saw early Lamar put up some points; it was back to looking bad. However, when I tuned back in late, there was a ray of light. After Lamar bounced that pass into the end zone in the middle of the 4th quarter, I had the break I needed. Elliott got closer with some runs and a catch; I needed a TD and my help would have the lead. If you were watching, you know what happens next. 1st and goal at the 1 yard line for Dallas. 3 consecutive runs by Elliott. He gets in, I get in. He didn’t get in… I have another reason to hate the Cowboys. Unfrickingbelievable!!!

So there’s my story. Nothing will compare to the fantasy title game when I had Tony Romo and he got knocked out first series; I will NEVER forget that one. This one ranks up there though, and the common thread: the Cowboys. Ah… got to love it. At least I made it in my big league… time to focus on that. Good luck in the playoffs!!!
