December 4, 2018: The Boylen Era

posted in: Bulls | 0

From the looks of it, this assistant coach taking over for FredBerg is going to be around for a while, especially since we’re paying Fred for another year.  His name is Jim Boylen, and Tuesday night against the Pacers was the first game under his watch.  Let the Boylen Era begin!

Read a lot of stuff since the ousting of Freddie… saw some of the players talk.  I’m not going to miss Hoiberg for one second… not even a millisecond.  It was kind of like Jay Cutler.  It got to a point where I didn’t care who the QB of the Bears was, as long as it wasn’t puss boy.  Similar with Fred, anybody would be a suitable replacement.  Heck, even try out a robot coach, that would have been better.  Make Randy Brown the head coach…oops, yeah, he’s gone too, not willing to sign up with a scaled back role aka sitting behind the bench not ON the bench.  We’re starting this thing off with a bang.

From everything I’ve seen from Boylen, both in his role as assistant coach, and in the past 24 hours or so since he was named head coach, I’m ready to see what he can do.  I’m ready to see a difference in the way this team plays.  Of course only so much can be done with the talent that we have…  I still think we can be better.  I still think, once fully healthy, this Bulls team is a playoff team… like a 7-8 seed.  Time will tell, and if that is true, then I guess the tank is out the window.  Is that a good thing?

I saw some comments about the team’s conditioning… and then about how the Bulls were gassed at the end of the game… because they actually played defense through the first 3 quarters.  That’s just hilarious.  So these guys have been dogging it on the defensive side of the ball, and now that they’re asked to play hard every minute, they get gassed?  Unfortunately, from what I’ve seen, I believe it.  That’s a sad statement, but one that surely does justify the move of dumping Fredric.

Yes, I know… the bigger problem is still around.  Who believes in GarPax any longer?  That number is dwindling, but this move was a no brainer.  The bad thing is that THEY picked Fred.  The funny thing is, or sad in my case, is that this new guy, reminds me of the old guy… Thibs.  It’s just funny how it all works out.  A battle of egos and pride caused the departure of Thibs, and now we’re trying to get somebody back like him?  But somebody that will nod their head to the dynamic duo?  More to come of course, but I did feel a bit re-energized watching the Bulls play with their new coach.  Yes, tweedle dee and tweedle dum, along with an owner more concerned about his baseball team still looms… but not sure what we can do about that.  Hoping for the best.  Go Bulls!
