December 31, 2017: Five Wins

posted in: Bears | 2

We five wins of 2017, come to you with no in-between.  Loss after loss, season after season, when will it come to an end?  O….

Yep, 5-11 was good for the 4th consecutive last place finish in the NFC Central.  Damn, even the Lovie Smith Bears seem like a long time ago.  10-6 and fired?  I’d die for 10-6 right now.

I still wanted to tune in to that last Bears game of the year.  Came back from church, finished up lunch just in time to settle in for the final punch to the gut for 2017.  It was ugly early..so ugly that the urge to watch this final Bears game from front to end went away.  What was I really missing?  I could save myself the aggravation, and sneak in a much needed nap instead.  We had celebrated NYE a night early, and I was hurting a bit.  I walked away from the TV and laid in bed; good night.

I saw the highlight of the punt return…one of the only highlights.   The Christian Jones hit on special teams just before I went to bed was pretty sweet.  I woke up just in time to see the end of the game.  Yep, four chances after 1st and goal to end the year.  I couldn’t have slept a little bit longer.

It’s one of the things that boggles my mind about the Bears.  Don’t you have a go to play?  A play that you save up that will be money when you call it.  The play you save up for that 3rd and goal play call; a play where two guys aren’t running the same route.   It’s frustrating as hell.

The Vikings defense looked good.  I remember we should have beat them in Mitch’s debut on MNF a couple months back.  They seem to have gotten stronger as the year went on.  I would not mind for a minute if they won it all.  With the NFC playoff participants complete, I wouldn’t mind to see any of them win it all.  NFC all the way, especially if one of those top two seeds in the AFC make it.

Yes, it’s time for the playoffs again; how does it feel to be in the playoffs?  Each year that goes by, I forget that feeling more and more.  How about Bills fans celebrating after the Bengals beat the Ravens to lock their spot up?  Ahh, to feel that excitement again.  I can’t wait.

We won’t have to wait long to hear about the future of our coaching staff.  With sources already reporting it, with folks saying all week it’s about 99 percent certain, all that was missing on this last day of 2017, was the official announcement.  Next up, Black Monday… Bear Down!

5 wins in 2017. An actual 2 win improvement from 2016 but still good enough for last and another playoffs missed. When will this misery end? The final game of the year was just as bad as most of the other 10 losses. A bright spot here or there but nothing sustained. Pace better get his bus fueled up for a long off-season of making moves. This needs to stop now!
The playoffs are set without our Bears again…tired of hearing that? I sure as hell am. Don’t want the viqueens to win anything. Would be nice to see the winner of the bills and jax go all the way! Meanwhile, us Bears fans will continue to hope for brighter days and an off-season of moves. Speaking of which, here comes the first one…

Moving in the right direction and beat a couple of team they should not have, which is good. We need to be 8-8 to see any progress. This is all based on the QBs in the NFC north. Rogers is at the end of his tenure and the fudge packers have no backup. Detroit signed the worst QB to the biggest money, which leaves nothing in terms of a budget for the next 5 years and who is the QB for Minnesota??? the one hit wonder or often injured never progressively seen other guy? Youth is the way of the future….need to strike while its HOT!
