Big bucks, big bucks, big bucks…. no whammy… stop! Did I hit the Big Bucks in my 2 fantasy football money leagues, or did I get wiped out by the whammy?
As the Sunday action came to a conclusion, I felt pretty good in my keeper league. My opponent had Isaac Guerendo and needed more than 40 points. Would he pull an Alvin Kamara/Ja’Marr Chase type deal? Not quite. He came up about 30 points short and I secured my 2nd fantasy football title of the year. This time, I got some money out of the deal. My team really didn’t do shit outside of Burrow in this league. I made another bad decision leaving McMillan on the bench, but it didn’t hurt me. The other guy’s team… brutal. He did have Tee Higgins, but that was it. Jordan Love shit the bed; that was extra sweet. Bateman, Reed, Conner, Achane, Henry, and his kicker combined, COMBINED for 12.4 points!!! He did get 23 from his defense, the Seahawks on Thursday night, but 12.4 points between 6 players?!?! That just isn’t going to get it done. I could have made multiple bad decisions in this league, and it still wouldn’t have mattered. Family league champ, check. Keeper league champ, check. Auction league champ??? Whammy!
This time my bad decisions cost me. I went with Bryce Young over Justin Herbert. Bryce didn’t do bad, but… Herbert did better. If I would have started him, I would have won; that hurts. I didn’t just make this decision willy nilly. Herbert had been OK this year, but not a sure thing by any means. After seeing how Josh Allen performed against the Pats defense in Buffalo, which helped me win in the semis btw, taking Herbert against them IN New England seemed like a risky proposition. Bryce Young had been heating up and had a great matchup. Hey, I did what I did; it didn’t work out. I did start McMillan in this league; that was a good move. Nico Collins shit the bed; asshole. My other stretch play for the week was starting Estime at RB over Swift. It wouldn’t have made the difference, but… if I had benched McLaurin too, with his one catch ass, and picked literally anybody else at flex, I would have won too. Damn. This close to a sweep, but… let’s not get greedy. After all, this whammy didn’t wipe me out; I still get paid for 2nd place. Nice!
All in all, one of my best fantasy football seasons of all time. Making the title game in all 3 of my leagues is a great accomplishment; let me pat myself on the back. I will be able to wear my fantasy legend hoodie proudly… haha. There’s definitely some skill required to do well; there’s definitely some luck involved too. To have a little bit of each, in 3 separate leagues… yeah, pretty happy about that. To add some money in my slush fund due to fantasy winnings… priceless. Fantasy Baseball up next!
